Re: Jelly in Fuel Tank
I drained the tank today. I disconnected the feed pipe to the fuel rail and fed it into a container under the car, hot-wired the pump at the fusebox and pumped all the tank contents out. It took a while (there was more than I thought) but the 10L that came out was rather urine coloured, very obvious...

Re: Jelly in Fuel Tank
After my experience on the bikes a few years back, I have only ever used E5. The 5L or so of fuel in the BMW came from our local BP, and sat in the tank for around 18 months.

Jelly in Fuel Tank
Hi all. After a long lay-up, and a pause over winter, I am in the process of getting my car ready for the road again. As a precaution I pumped out the old fuel to put in some fresh E5. However I noticed that there were lumps of jelly-like substance in the tank. Research shows that this is a byproduc...

Windscreen Availability
Evening All.
I was in my local pub, chatting to the owner (who has a mint 635CSI) and he told me that he had wanted to replace the front windcreen, but was tole that they are no longer available. Is this the case?
Thanks, Ian

Re: Ethanol-proof injector seals?
Great resource, thanks!
Can anyone tell me the BMW part number for the seals between the injector and fuel rail, please? I have been searching for a while now, but not managed to find it yet.
Thanks, Ian

Ethanol-proof injector seals?
Evening all. One of the new genuine BMW seals, between the fuel rail and injector, has started leaking after only 1 year. I have had a few issues with seals on my classics, due to ethanol. Whether or not this is the issue with my E24, as I have to fit a new seal, it would be good to know if there ar...

Re: Fuel Rail Leak
Yes, E10 has 10% ethanol, whereas E5 has "up to 5%", and is often called "Preservation Grade". So, for any non-compatible cars (most cars made after 2002, and all made after 2010 should be OK), E10 is at least twice as bad as E5, due to the extra (up to 10% by volume) ethanol. Ev...

Re: Fuel Rail Leak
Thanks All. Yes, I woke up with the corrosion suspicion too. All seals, clips etc were replaced when I refitted the newly refurbished injectors. There were no leaks and the engine ran beautifully. Now, after 2 years in storage, I have a misfiring engine and a slight leak on the fuel rail. The ethano...

Re: Fuel Rail Leak
Thanks Emac,
Yes, I have already had all of the injectors cleaned, rebuilt and flow-checked. The car has only done about 20 miles since I refitted the refurbished injectors, so I am a little confudsed as to why I have a leak.
Cheers, Ian

Fuel Rail Leak
Hi all, It's been a while, but I am finally back working on the M635 again. After 2 years in storage, I woke her up today. I drained the old fuel, put in some fresh E5, connected the battery, turned the ignition on to prime the fuel system and let the ECU work out which way is up, and hit the starte...

BBS Wheels
Hi All, Having a clearout. I have a pair of 195TR415CH original BBS metric wheels for the 6 series. One has a 240/45 tyre mounted, that has good tread and holds pressure, but it is an old tyre so probably only good as a spare to get you home. Both wheels are in very good condition, with only slight ...

E24 Rear Subframe
Hi All, I bought a used rear subframe for the differential, as the case on my M635 was in rather poor condition. The subframe came from an E24 635CSI, which shares the same diferential case as the LSD version on my car. I removed the diff and got a specialist to swap the internals for me, so I now h...

Re: Factory Looking Headunits
I have fitted a period Becker Mexico, modified for bluetooth hands free and audio streaming by a widget from a bloke in Germany. It looks perfect and the Mexico is even mentioned in the BMW M635 manual. The kit comes with a microphone, discreet answer/end call button and a breakout box for Aux input...

Thanks Chaps! On the LH side of the boot, I have a larger removable panel behind which sits the Jack, chock etc. The kit does fit perfectly in the rear pod but I take the point re putting it on show :) However, I would he nervous about having it stolen at events (Had the original tool kit taken from...

First Aid Box Position
Hi all,
Managed to finally find an original and unused first aid box. Can anyone help me with the correct place for it and how it is mounted, in a Euro M635CSI please?
Thanks,
Ian

Throttle (Gas) pedal removal
Hi all,
Can anyone help describe how the throttle pedal is removed from the E24 please? I need to lift my carpet to work on the floor but cannot figure out how to get the pedal out.
Thanks,
Ian

Re: Engine temperature sensors
Thanks for the reply. My engine is the M88 from the M6/M635. I found them though. Rather than being under engine or engine electrical in RealOEM, they are under Cooling System.
Cheers,
Ian

Engine temperature sensors
Hi all, I meed some help identifying part numbers please. I have been searching through RealOEM for the engine temperature sensors as I suspect one or more of them might be providing false readings to the ECU. The engine runs a bit rough until it is up to temperature but is ok once warm. All vacuum ...

Re: UK Fuel Injector Cleaning Service Recommendations?
Thanks. That is probably all I need too but as the car had been sat for 15 years in a barn with stale old fuel in the system, I think it probably wise to get them fully reconditioned. :)

UK Fuel Injector Cleaning Service Recommendations?
Hi All, I want to send off the injectors for an ultrasonic clean, new filter baskets, o-rings and spray pattern / flow checks. They are the only part of the fuel system that is original as the car has a new tank, pipes, hoses, both pumps, filter, regulator and idle injector, all genuine BMW parts to...

Re: Fuel Tank Breather
Thanks for the fast response. Agreed, RealOEM is a great resource and I have used it extensively throughout the last year during the restoration of my barn-find M635CSI. If only there were such a site for all the other cars I have restored, life would have been much simpler. However, the problem wit...
