Sorry for slow response - so can you confirm cost for a set with core charge and shipping?
Thx!

Re: E24 electric sport seat hinges(repaired)
Nice work! My seats ping back and are wobbly so this looks like what I need; shipping to the UK would likely be expensive though? How long does the process take?

WTB rear muffler 87 uk highline
Any chance anyone has a serviceable rear box? Rest of the system isn’t in bad shape, would like to stay stock if the price isn’t too silly…

Re: Engine cutting out
I too have posted here about my 87 highline running issues having also replaced all sensors, lines, pumps, filters, regulators etc - and had both the original ECU and a spare tested and signed off by ATP. Eventually i sent her to Classic Heroes as i'd run out of ideas; they phoned the next day to sa...

Re: Engine running woes
Success! Undid the 2 hex head screws that hold the harness duct in place, then gently wiggled either end and the electrical connectors came off without any hassle. Turned out only 3 of them had the metal spring retaining the connector on - i'm 99% sure i didn't lose any taking it off and i know the ...

Re: Engine running woes
You can try to remove the rail with the injectors attached. Very carefully pry from the end of the rail working your way to the other end. That was my method to make it easier. Thanks; i had planned to remove the rail with the injectors attached (as suggested also by Bentley) - but wasn't aware i c...

Re: Engine running woes
Try turning the injector so the wire is facing you. there didn't seem to be much tolerance between the bottom of the harness conduit and the connectors, to the extent i couldn't see how i could pull the connectors off even if i could remove the clips - it didn't feel like i'd be able to rotate the ...

Re: Engine running woes
First time back in the garage last week for a month and to add insult to injury, some a*** has scraped the rear wing from the wheel arch over the filler cap cover to the corner of the rear light lens, breaking the lens in the process. Nice. As its a public car park with no liability nothing i can do...

Re: Engine running woes
Possible vacuum leak(s) are the injector seals. Since that's right at a high vacuum area, it will play hob with your fuel/air mix. The injectors are the one bit of the fuel system that's not been overhauled / renewed and was on my long list - I'd heard the seals can leak as well as the injectors st...

Re: Engine running woes
Pic of the B35 TPS pin connector. Hopefully numbering is legible #1-3 are for the potentiometer. I’m able to get resistance readings between #1 and #3 around 70k ohms at idle and down to 3400 ohms at WOT. Seemed like a linear change as the throttle is opened. Also get readings from other combinatio...

Re: Engine running woes
I get that you have a new fuel pressure regulator. I would put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail line just to make sure fuel pressure is not the issue. Yes that was one of my thoughts - made the mistake though of buying a cheap pressure tester on amazon that leaked everywhere tho i did get a readin...

Re: Engine running woes
Pull the dipstick while running. If it makes no difference in the idle, you have a vacuum leak Thanks Bert - tried that and it didn't seem to get any worse but that said it was so rough beforehand it was hard to tell! Are there any common places for leaks on the B35 *other* than the vacuum hoses, d...

Re: Engine running woes
Your observation that it seems to be running lean once again points to vacuum leak(s). Doing a smoke test to find it/them will eliminate that as a cause, but I believe you'll find the problem is just that, a vacuum leak. I've seen it too many times on my own and other's vehicles to believe it's any...

Re: Engine running woes
Good thought Paul - presumably if that's the case i could disconnect a badly connected part and not see any difference in running too?635sharknose wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 2:14 pm Perhaps it's not one of these part that's bad but a dirty connector or broken cable.
I would continuity test all the cables back to the CPU to make sure.

Re: Engine running woes
Fitted replacement TPS courtesy of Ralph in SoCal - seems to run a *little* better but not a massive difference. Noticed whilst in there that the ICV on mine isn't the correct one for our cars - its a Bosch part # 0280140502 which a google search suggests is used on some Saab, Opel and even Yugo mod...

Re: WTB: in-tank fuel pump 16141179424
Couldn't see any markings on the pump but it is sealed into a plastic housing so may need to bust that open to get the details. Gave up in the end and bought the US style unit and swapped the pump and filter over with the housing on mine - just needed to unsolder a single wire then unscrew / unclip ...

Re: Engine running woes
Finally got round to going to the garage, removing and spraying contact cleaner into the TPS and refitting - sadly no difference; of course doesn't mean its not the cause, just that i now need to get a known working one to verify. Hopefully Ralph will sort me out here, meantime i'll look at buying m...

I have an easy way to do a smoke test even in your underground. Purchase a bee smoker: https://www.bing.com/search?q=bee+smokers&qs=AS&pq=bee+smoker&sc=8-10&cvid=A89E3BC8ACAD4C9E9CD813CBBDADB5DA&FORM=CHRDEF&sp=1 Use an empty plastic soda bottle and tape a small hose to spout...

Re: Engine running woes
I would definitely have a go at replacing the throttle position sensor. My car recently had a similar problem, although I could get it to drive, but it would then cut out and almost instantly restart. The Throttle position sensor is connected to the idle control valve so as the TPS fails it trigger...

Re: Engine running woes
My first guess is a bad or dirty idle control valve, or perhaps the connector on this valve is bad. Thanks Paul - I did clean it out and heard the distinctive clicking of the inner mechanism moving freely after cleaning and the connectors look in good shape - I should probably run a meter over it p...

Engine running woes
Hi all Need some help please - still struggling to get my car running properly. Has had an intermittent fault since i got it ~2 years ago; one day it would be fine, the next it would stutter, stall, reek of fuel and barely go round the block. Over the ensuing 18 mths its had a new fuel tank, new FPR...

WTB: brake line pipe clip / clamp - 34321238089
Long shot probably since this seems to have been NLA for nearly 10 years but if anyone has a couple of these plastic brake pipe clips that hold the short lines over the rear hub carrier i'd be very appreciative having broken both of mine replacing the pipes. Fitted to a range of 80s and 90s cars - a...
