Re: Salvage Hunters Classic Cars

I was just watching the latest Salvage Hunters Classic Cars (shown 16/02/19) for a bit of light entertainment when, in one shot of Drew returning to Paul's workshop, as he drove into the yard in his Discovery with the camera panning with the car there was a brief flash of Henna red ?! I replayed the...

Re: Salvage Hunters Classic Cars

It was good to see another 635 back on the road with stunning travelling shots, a beautiful car. I think Pod made some very interesting observations about the car I also was very surprised to see the car being driven on the road without trade plates ,at speed with poor brakes etc. after being stored...

Re: Gonna be gone for a while

All best wishes to you Ken, so glad you and your wife acted quickly and got into the ITU - the very best place to get you stabilized again so that you can continue your recovery at home. It does seem to be the way with cancer treatments that the 'status quo' can change very quickly, I went in for my...

Re: Consensus on Rust Proofing?

I always treat rustproofing in the following way: after removing as much rust as possible using a coarse wire cup-brush in the angle grinder, followed by the hard sponge-like disc which actually removes the hard brown glazed rust, I treat the bare metal with Jenolite rust remover agitated with a bru...

Re: Brake bleeding advice

Sometimes when bleeding brake calipers -even with a pressure bleeder kit, you can see a stream of small air bubbles coming out which does not seem to stop after a lot of fluid has been used. It can be due to air being drawn up the brake nipple thread loosened for bleeding. Some brake nipples are qui...

Re: Losing Brake Pedal When Engine Running

Hi Ian, I followed your link to the video -this fits the symptoms exactly, so trying a secondhand pump is the next step. ( I just checked E-Bay again this morning as there has been one listed for a while for £45 but it has gone ugh!) I also came across a short bimmerforums thread where someone found...

Hanging on in there......

I started a new thread as I would like to reply to your members kind wishes to me without hi-jacking Ken Kanne's line. As you probably gathered from my messages of support to Ken I am also suffering from cancer. Classed as a rapid growing inoperable terminal cancer that cannot be stopped with establ...

Re: Pacific Sharkfest 2018 pix

Bobbo, from the clarity and depth of field in your photos I naturally assumed that you were using a proper camera! ( calls of shame from smartphone users!) I too use a camera to take pictures and a phone ( Nokia 3310 'brick' ) to make calls, I find it works best for me - even if it means that it mak...

Re: Losing Brake Pedal When Engine Running

ABS switchbox -continued. My method to clear trapped air in abs module : Connect up pressure bleeder at 10psi to move fluid through the pipes and keep reservoir topped up. Have bleeder jar connected to caliper nipple -still closed. Switch on abs pump, toggle solenoid valve switch on and off repeated...

Re: Losing Brake Pedal When Engine Running

Here are the details of my ABS module switchbox ( article in 2 parts due to cut and paste issues!) It gives control of all the solenoid valves and pump to help dislodge any trapped air in the module. First, disconnect battery positive terminal, remove plastic cover on the abs module to expose the lo...

Re: how many 635's have you encounter? (Encountered)

I have not seen a 635 on the road in my part of the country for ages - only at the NEC Classic Car shows, so you can imagine my surprise when I arrived at my workshop a few weeks ago to find this lovely 88/89 M635 parked outside the unit next to me! (Apparently it was booked in for a tune up ) It is...

Hi everyone, I thought I would try to send some photos of my restored car. The registration number is quite trick, it is the original one supplied by the selling dealer. re: my disappearing article sent to forum.
Thank you Brucey for some very useful tips, I like the idea of preparing it first in word then cutting and pasting.

I will try again in the next few days when I have some more time as I think some members may find it interesting.

cheers, Nigel.

Re: Losing Brake Pedal When Engine Running

Hi Ian, I know what you mean by e-bay purchases! but it is a genuine ATE master cylinder which is the same as the one fitted from new by the factory, carries the same part number and came from a brake specialist company in Germany. I don't think it is fake but I do think it is faulty! cheers Nigel. ...

my reply cut off!! I was just saying that last week I had to move a big Merc. SUV 2008 and to my surprise the brake pedal slowly sank to the floor ! Hi Ian, It seems that both our cars are suffering from the same problem although yours seems more severe than mine. Re: Losing Brake Pedal When Engine Running

H Phil, re level in resevoir, no the level did not drop as the pedal was sinking nor was there any visible movement in the fluid -so you would think there wasn't any air in the system, and it did not feel spongey. After my abs purge it was interesting that the pedal came right up to the top and the ...
