SI Board Instrment cluster rebuild
Hi Could anyone offer any advice on rebuilding the instrument cluster, specifically the SI board I’ve repaired it so many times myself now but the circuit board is done. Does anyone have any experience with replacement boards at all. I’ve seen some stuff on battery less SI boards but wondering if an...

Re: Solenoid wiring
I have a 1985 csi and the black/yellow wire is connected to the lower solenoid blade. Mine wasn’t cranking, full charge, healthy battery. Having checked all the relays, good earth etc, I went to check if current was reaching the starter and noticed the black/yellow wire hanging free. Took a fused fe...

Wires to starter motor
Hi folks I was wondering if anyone could help please. Recently I noticed two wires in the loom going to the starter motor that aren’t connected to anything. In addition to the heavy duty cables, there are three smaller wires. There’s a black/yellow wire that’s connected to the bottom spade on the so...

Windscreen Rubber - Chrome Inserts
Hi folks I’m restoring my 635csi and have left the screens in for the respray. I have removed the chrome insert strips front and back to allow the rubber to be peeled back but the manual seems to indicate that the inserts are fitted to the rubbers prior to screen fitting. I was just wondering if any...

Re: Fuel but no spark
SORTED !!!!!!!!! Firstly, thanks to everyone who contributed, it was very much appreciated. After all the faffing, it turns out to be the Speed Sensor on the bell housing. There was no reading on pins 1&2. During the testing, what was throwing me was the readings between pins 1&3 and 2&3...

Re: Fuel but no spark
Hi Guys Just a quick update. I've ordered two replacement Bosch sensors and before fitting, wanted to test the resistance readings. Both sensors were bench tested and although measuring correctly at 966 ohms, there's nothing at all between pins 1&3 and 2&3 The books say they need to have 100...

Re: Fuel but no spark
Thanks Guys. I really appreciate the feedback.
In my 19 years of ownership, neither sensor has been replaced and they may be there from new, so to eliminate them, I'm replacing both sensors.
I'm hoping this'll help.
I'll let you the outcome.
Thanks again

Fuel but no spark
Hi guys I know this is flogging a dead horse, but I'd appreciate any guidance you could offer. Car is a 1985 e24 635csi UK car. Car has been off the road for a number of years but I regularly turned it over, the last time it fired up was a year ago. Recently, it was sent for restoration and for the ...
