Re: FS: 3:65 Torsen LSD (rear-loader), $350, CA

Need a new diff to replace my 3.65 LSD medium case for '89 635CSi. Will this work without modification? Any condition problems? I think it'll work just fine. It's in good condition; no problems. However, you are second in line. Let me reply to the first guy and circle back with you... Thanks, Bill

I really liked the bumper sticker...
We had those printed and distributed them at Lemons races. We have a two other: "Follow me to certain death," and "Safety Third."

FS: 3:65 Torsen LSD (rear-loader), $350, CA

Long story, but we got this to use in our race car. It helps a lot, but we have stiffened up the car enough that we now get some wheel spin, even with the Torsen. It'll work well on a softer sprung car. We get too much wheel lift with our stiffer anti-roll bar set-up. A clutch-type LSD won't fix the...

Re: A Shark conquers Sonoma...

Thought I'd add one more photo. This paints a better picture of the race. We averaged 2:25 lap times around Buttonwillow, but the races are won/lost in the stops. I am fueling the car, and Aaron is my fireman. BTW, we finished mid-pack in our second race with the car. But we are getting faster and l...

Re: A Shark conquers Sonoma...

Well, we did it again. This time we ran the Lucky Dog endurance racing series at Buttonwillow. It was a 13 hour race over two days. The Shark ran like a champ. We are continuing to sort the car but having a blast driving it. The things that still need to be addressed before our next race in May: We ...

Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?

Love my Joengbloed wheels! https://i.imgur.com/opfBLV1.jpg These may not be the most fancy but all magnesium and very light. Very valuable, too. There is a set for sale on CL in Los Angeles right now for $1800. I would love to buy them for our Lucky Dog/Lemons car, but there are too valuable to put...

Re: A Shark conquers Sonoma...

Well, we are prepping for our second race at Buttonwillow on February 1 - 2. We have replaced the rear main seal and water pump. Both were leaking. Good thing we did. The clutch disc looked good, but the flywheel and pressure plate had deep grooves in them. So, flywheel has be resurfaced and a new c...

Re: What to do with 1983 BMW 745 Euro???

Well, we got the car running. It runs pretty smoothly. We were able to shift it into forward and reverse and it moves under its own power. It stops too. But we are not gonna push it with the brakes. To get it going, we replaced the two pumps with one high-flow, in-tank pump. Required a little modifi...

Re: That alt light thread again.

It's such a boat as a race car compared to half of the field being Miatas :-# and all you see is their roll cage when sitting all the way down (talking like maybe 2 inches before I sit all the way down). I drive standing pretty straight with the wheel fairly close too. Feels best for my 2 hours sti...

Re: What to do with 1983 BMW 745 Euro???

Well, we took both fuel pumps out of the car to see if we could make either work. No go. The in-tank, transfer pump is badly gummed up. We were able to clean up the pressure pump and get it to turn, but it was heating up. Low resistance in the pump, but it did not turn freely. So, we will probably e...

Yes, that’s a locking bolt with the lock removed. Just remove it. I’m surprised that you only have one on the car!
There's one at each wheel, actually.

Re: What to do with 1983 BMW 745 Euro???

From this picture, it looks to me like you have a short stud and nut at each wheel. The previous owner must have become frustrated aligning the wheels on the center hub each time they remounted the wheels. Shockingly short studs though. cb Hi Craig, I thought so, too. I guess we will take a shot an...

Re: What to do with 1983 BMW 745 Euro???

The wheel bolts may be locking bolts with the key locks ripped out? Can’t quite see from the photo but BMW locking bolts have a spinning cover secured by a lock to stop a wrench being used. Looks like someone has lost the key and removed the locking parts? Here's another angle, and I've zoomed in. ...

Re: A Shark conquers Sonoma...

Just a quick addition: I mentioned the many hours we wasted, I mean, um, spent , prepping the car. We also drank cases upon cases of flavored soda water (pamplemousse, sil vous plait?), ate countless pizzas, and devoured sandwiches by the score. I figured you'd want photographic evidence of that, to...

A Shark conquers Sonoma...

Well, maybe "conquer" is the wrong term. It's hard to know if we were conquerors or the conquered. Anyway, I have mentioned in other posts some details of our LeMons build. Well, we finally got the car to the track. Wanted to share a little about the effort. The short story...we did it. We got The S...

OK, well Geoff and I spent a few hours fiddling with the car this evening. I snapped a bunch of pictures which I'll post below. It was at night and outdoors, but you'll see the the car is in decent shape. More importantly, we changed the oil, drained the old gas, poured in some fresh gas, cleaned up...

Evidently, these are getting to be pretty hard to find. I sold mine on eBay this week for $350. Woof. Shocked me. Buyer was over-the-moon happy. He said he had been searching for a two years for them. Maybe he’s not a very good searcher, but he was motivated to buy. Just adding a data point to the c...
