Hi all,
Please disregard the above request!
I’ve since discovered that I have a M30B34 engine and have managed to source one.
Cheers,
J

Engine - M30B35 - UK based
Hi guys, Long shot but was wondering if anyone knows of a good condition M30B35 engine available in the UK. Bought one a few years back and fitted to the car but it’s running rough. Had removed the head to change the valves but my mechanic told me that it looks like it’ll need re-bored. So may be mo...

Re: Removing rear side window "recess seal with plate"
Not as bad as looks. B pillar shark fins must be removed also. Didn't notice that in instruction pics . Two screws behind door seal the just pull downwards n it slides off. It does just lift up as pictured . Try wedging up the clip at the door jamb first then others will follow once u lift. There a...

Ah great, that's good to hear. I'll do a search and see if I can find a "how 2" guide or something. Thanks, I was hoping it would be something simple.

Alternative Front Seats - Later E24 (1987)
Hi Guys, I was just wondering if there are any other front seats that will bolt straight into a later E24 - Euro 1987 635csi. I currently have what I believe to be sport seats however the drivers seat struggles to stay in the upright position. Put a little pressure on it and it drops. I fully intend...

Re: Wont start after engine replacement
Hi All, Just to update the thread - I know its been a month or so! Right, I spoke to the garage owner, he's a big BMW fan and knows his stuff. He put my mind at rest and assured me a new Cold Start Valve would resolve the problem. He said it wasn't just a bad valve, but it was leaking fuel quite sig...

Re: Wont start after engine replacement
Engine was running well before being removed from the other car. Has good compression and sounds healthy when turning over. Thanks for your reply. I suspected that the cold start valve alone wouldn’t prevent the car from starting. I’ll pop down and see the guys at the garage tomorrow and try swappin...

Re: Wont start after engine replacement
Thanks for the reply. Yeah the Cold Start Valve has been checked by the garage and they are confident that it needs replaced (at their mercy I’m afraid - I’d like to have tested it myself). The engine was from another 635 of the same year - simple plug and play. Nothing had to be modified. I’m just ...

Wont start after engine replacement
Hi All, As the title suggests, I've recently had the engine in my 1987 635csi replaced (old engine died last year!). The garage have only been working on the car when they had some down time so I've been waiting nearly a full year to get to this stage. The engine is in, wiring all connected up, and ...

Re: Car cut out while driving - wont restart! Help!
UPDATE So after getting the car running very briefly today, it was very clear that something wasn’t well within the engine itself. Very loud knocking noise. My mechanics face confirmed that the engine was no more! He believes that there may have been a blockage or failing oil pump that resulted in t...

Re: Wiring Harnesses - which one for a 1987 635 csi!
Okay, so wiring harness is no longer required. Managed to sort the issue with my own loom. However, we’ve now established why it broke down all those weeks ago. Started the car and the engine is knocking badly. Don’t know the reason for the knocking but engine will need a rebuild. Only drove the car...

Wiring Harnesses - which one for a 1987 635 csi!
Hi guys, I’ve put a post in the wanted section looking for an engine wiring harness along with the harness behind the dash. Quick question though, I’ve noticed that the harness appears to have changed between earlier and later models so I was wondering if anyone knows which harnesses should fit a 19...

New Member - Here's the mandatory Photo Uploads!
Hi All, Okay, so you may have seen my other post regarding a little running issue with my newly acquired 635 csi... namely, it doesn't run! But while that's getting sorted, I thought I would introduce the car to you all! The following photos are from last Friday - these showing the moment the car ar...

Re: Car cut out while driving - wont restart! Help!
Thanks for the suggestion. Tried that this morning. Nothing. Got recovery out and the chap reckons the starter is gubbed. He also tried sending power right to the starter and got nothing. He expected even a clunk but nothing happened. Cars been taken to a local trusted mechanic so I’ll update when I...

Re: Car cut out while driving - wont restart! Help!
Thanks all for the responses so far. I did contact the previous owner. He is very apologetic and I genuinely don’t think this happened in his ownership. He’s in his 60’s and had owned the car for 26 years. He did however phone the garage that knows the car well. The only thing they could think of is...

Re: Car cut out while driving - wont restart! Help!
It's a 1987 automatic. Don't know if it's related or relevant but I've noticed that the fuel pump appears to be buzzing away when I put the ignition on. I don't think it was making that noise when the car was delivered this morning but it's quite noticeable now. Having done some research, it looks l...

Car cut out while driving - wont restart! Help!
Hi all, This morning was a day I'd been looking forward to for the past 25+ years... the day I finally took ownership of a BMW E24 635 CSi! Have loved this car since I was a kid and I now have one! It started and drove fine for the first 10 / 15 minutes but all of a sudden it lost power and cut out....
