Re: F/S 1985 635CSi

I would agree with launching on BAT. For one, there are a lot of Canadian buyers there. The car is nice and is worth the 7.5k usd in a second. In fact I would buy it to flip if you were closer and I had the time. I don't think the mileage hits these cars as say they may with a Porsche if maintained....

Re: Engine swap

You can also reach https://uempistons.com/ regarding Keith Black Pistons. They are Hypereutectic. Not forged however an excellent product for far less money than a Ross, Wiseco, or JE. We used all of them in racing at various points and there were distinct benefits to the Hyper's over forged. One wa...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right

I too forget the name of the guy in Tracey. He was, may still be, the best around. I know we used to send him all kinds of different Bosch stuff to test and repair. That was in the late 1980's...

Re: Euro 635 CSI backfires and dies

I doesn't take very many backfires to ruin the AFM. A bad ignition switch can cause the symptoms you are describing. Try wiggling the ig switch while the car is running to see if you can exacerbate the matter. Double check the main relay function. Make certain pin 18 (as I recall which supplies full...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right

You know, something struck me as odd. When I looked at the pictures in the provided motronic troubleshooting guide, I noticed the Grey Connector (Reference Sensor) was located nearest the intake runners. Doing some fiddling w my car today, I noticed the Black Connector was nearest the intake runner ...

Re: Redline MT-90 in Getrag 260 Gearbox?

There are many Getrag 260's out there installed by BMW that have a sticker From BMW recommending Dextron III. Don't use synthetic. I've also used and installed in literally hundreds of cars, Dextron II or III. Most noticeable and immediate effect is much better 1-2 shifts. When servicing the cars w ...

As long as everything else mentioned checks out, then yes, time for an ecu. You have certainly put your time into this one.

Re: Entry Level Welding Equipment

A quick note of caution, Starting in Late 1980, the E24's got galvanized body panels. You do not want to breath the smoke from these welds. Very toxic and have in the case of Porsche, killed the unscrupulous body man. I like the Lincoln 110 products. The 140 is outstanding for bodywork. The main ben...

Re: Redline MT-90 in Getrag 260 Gearbox?

Have been running ATF in these boxes for nearly 40 years. Lots of reasons why. Smoother shifting being one. Super clean upon internal inspection. Not a cold weather thing. ATF is magic in the Getrags for racing or long term street.

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right

It's been outlined. I would verify the Hall Sensors are producing a pulse. Test first at the connection from the sensors then each connection going up into the ecu making sure you have a consistent pulse all the way through the harness. Only then can you point to the ecu and only if everything else ...

Re: No Heater or AC fan

The ac switches can fail at first intermittently, then gone. That is a 30 amp circuit as I recall. The switch may appear to be clicking into the closed circuit position when it is not. Simply pull the switch and use a jumper wire w 30, 87, etc. I would not rule out the fuses unless you are using a t...

Still pretty tall for an auto car. I don't think the wheels help it either. It's a 65ish car in the southeast.

Re: My henna 84

This is some very nice work. I'm curious as to how you are going to mechanically actuate the variable length intake? Likewise, the input for same, ie, load, rpm, etc? Have you considered, based on manifold pressure, any intake swirl manipulation? Again, very nice work here and following closely. For...

4th generation California Native here. 1 night in San Francisco will suffice these days.. Mendocino on night one is an excellent choice. North Coast Brewery in Ft Bragg is an excellent choice for food and, well, great beer. They also have an outstanding Jazz scene if you are into that. The view from...
