E24 Rocker Panel Color. Help!
Just finished a beautiful respray on my Alpine White 1989 635csi. I’m almost certain the rocker panels are supposed to be black from the trim piece down. But I’m not certain. A Google search of images shows many examples that are body color that is adding to my confusion. Your expert advice is appre...

Re: removing door handles
Help! I have a 1989 E24 and the driver's door handle came out without any issues. This forum was a huge help and thanks to those of you who share your expertise. My problem is with the passenger door handle. The mechanism on the back of the tumbler is plastic. There is no pin to slide out. It seems ...

Re: 1989 635csi automatic will not shift into 4th gear
Hi Phil,
I was a little pressed for time and reset all of the fuses one by one in a fairly rapid succession. I did not notice which specific fuse did the trick. I suppose I could go back and see which fuse will kill the gauges and 3,2,1 light. Probably for another day.

Self Leveling Rear Suspension Cycles Up and Down
I am sorting a newly purchased 1989 E24 and discovered a rear suspension issue. When the car is running, the self leveling suspension continues to raise and lower. The pump kicks on at approximately 30 second intervals and goes back and forth between raising and lowering. I have zero experience with...

Re: 1989 635csi automatic will not shift into 4th gear
Transmission Fixed! I waited patiently for the new TCM and installed it as soon as it arrived. This did not fix the 4th gear issue. My car drove the same with only 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears available. I had noticed that the temp and gas gauges had gone dead along with the service indicator and gear in...

WTB 1988, 1989 E24 Exhaust
Hello and thanks for looking. Sorting out my newly purchased 1989 635csi. I need a new or used exhaust system that is at least cat back. Not really liking the Billy Boat system which appears to be all that is available.

Lseat Seat Covers: Too Good To Be True?
Has anyone installed Lseat seat covers on their BMW? They seem too good to be true at $349 per pair in leather. Would love to hear from someone who has installed a set and what they think of them.
Thanks in advance.

Any chance you have the instrument cluster? I'm hoping to find one with a decent clear Plexiglas cover?
Feel free to call or text if you like.

Re: Red 1989 Auto: Rear end damage - loads of new parts
Hello Philip,
Any chance you have an instrument cluster? It doesn't have to be fully functional. I am mainly looking for a decent housing with an unbroken clear Plexiglas cover. Feel free to call of text if you like.
Thank, John 703 623-9424 cell

Re: 1989 635csi automatic will not shift into 4th gear
Excellent. Thanks. Just located it. Bosch 0 260 002 039. Purchased one on ebay. Will let you know if that is the fix. Checked all of the connections at the E/S/321 switch and everything looks solid there. Will keep you posted on this situation. Hopefully a new TCM will do the trick. Fingers crossed!

Re: 1989 635csi automatic will not shift into 4th gear
I am fairly convinced my problem is in the TCM (Transmission Control Module)
Just opened up the glovebox and the only boxes above it are the Engine and the Airbag Control Units.
Can someone tell me where to find the TCM on a 1989 635csi? It seems they moved it for this year.

1989 635csi automatic will not shift into 4th gear
Hello, I have just purchased a 1989 635csi automatic that has been sitting for a little while. I have spent the last few weeks sorting her out and she is running extremely well. However, the 4hp22 transmission will not shift into 4th gear regardless of which mode is selected. I drained the fluid whi...
