They are chrome plated steel so can’t be anodised.
Thanks, Ron - had no idea they were chrome. Thought all the silver trim was anodised aluminium?

Front bumper corner chrome (1984)

Looking for structurally sound chrome bumper corners - ideally drivers side (right hand drive). Can be scratched as will reanodise

Re: Turn signal indicator and SI board

Hey folks - just doing some research for myself. I'm new to E24 ownership and my SI lights do not light up - but I'm not sure if that is because they were reset when I bought the car...or if the batteries have gone (which I suspect is likely). Can you confirm that the SI lights come on when starting...

Re: Mirror Mangulation

Great insight here. Both my mirrors are not working. I've cleaned the switch. The plug the switch goes in to seems to have 12v coming out on pin 4 only (seems normal). When I plug the switch in my multimeter says there is 12v going across all the pins. Is that right? Can't be? Wires appear OK from w...

Re: Manual Window Operation - Long Reach Allen Key

For future reference - its a 3mm hex. With the plastic nut in situ you need a reasonably long hex key to get to it, with nothing on the shaft (like a rubber coating or anything as that will foul the hole. Unfortunately for me I couldn't get the the manual mechanism to engage, so wasn't able to get t...

Manual Window Operation - Long Reach Hex Size

Hi all, I've got a gunky rear window. Originally it wasn't working, quick switch swap got it going (up/down) but I then managed to get it stuck in the down position. From what I read, not uncommon and likely some gunky old grease. Problem is my toolkit has everything but the long reach allen key to ...

Hey Landshark,

Nice - what are these based on? I'm assuming they aren't custom for E24?

Re: My UK '84 635csi

That looks absolutely lovely! If you are looking at an empty hole where the sunroof motor cover should be I'll be able to help you - I'm at the "Which box is THAT in?" stage of putting my 6 back together and I found a spare cover amongst a host of other things I didn't know I had! (It's i...

Re: My UK '84 635csi

Welcome Tom, looks great! The windows not working is probably due to dirty (burned) switches, I had that as well. I opened up the switches and cleaned the contacts, all good after that. I would not advise to buy the Chinese eBay/Amazon replica switches, just clean the original ones. Thanks - finger...

Re: My UK '84 635csi

Welcome to the insanity, Tom! You've scored a winner. Low mileage and no rust. Treasure it. That's not dirt in the instrument cluster. It's "flocking". Made that way from the factory. I guess BMW thought it was elegant. I mean in the indicator lights there is a build up of somethin...

My UK '84 635csi

Hi all, I'm Tom from the UK. Have finally dipped my toe in to classic cars and thought I would really just dive in the deep end by buying one of my two dream cars. I've loved the E24 ever since Quentin Wilson did a 'buy now' tip on Fifth Gear on UK TV. Anyway, managed to get a 45k mile 635 with larg...
