Re: Refinishing the Roundels

Hey Ralph, yes, that would be great =D> I know the rear Roundels are not common due to the curvature :-? I actually do have a spare, but it's glued to my valve cover #-o And I know how to get them off the car without damaging the paint, what I am trying to find out is how to get the Roundel itself s...

Jose, true dat =D> Note for Carl, you are referring to sway bars that are available for the E12 chassis, not E28 based [-X I have the same sizes, but from Korman Autoworks, 28mm front and 22mm rear =D> And while it's true that no additional welding or strengthening is "required", my Dinan adjustable...

Re: Hood Release

+2, cleaning and lubricating the latch mechanisms helped greatly on mine, which also required prying my fingers under the hood to get it to pop up enough to raise it [-X I recently replaced the hood shocks as well, which while keeping the hood up in place once it's raised, they didn't appear to help...

Re: Driver side manual Seat base track factory Recaro `

Dang, I could use that seat base, mine is kinda "stuck" in somewhat of a leaned back position and refuses to tilt forward ](*,) I even pulled the seat to see if I could figure out why, appears that something is stuck in the tilt mechanism :-k I am tempted to yank the passenger seat just to see if I ...

Refinishing the Roundels

Gents, picked up this cool set of Cloisonné Roundels from orval2, we basically traded these for those funky 80's sunglasses that he just had to have, to complete his 80's outfit #-o http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=29763 These are aftermarket, but to my surprise they are actually overl...

Re: Mystery spot in the toolkit box

Thanks Bert, my tools are indeed correct, original, and minty fresh, even after 38 years \:D/ But all of this actually brings up yet another question, for Flex :-? Flex, your first photo shows a different tool tray, which does not have the space for the "mystery tool", nor does it have the clips alo...

Re: Mystery spot in the toolkit box

In response to Bert's response, the early tool kits indeed had an aqua colored cloth, and without the BMW Roundel logo \:D/ But it also appears that there were more than just 2 versions of tool kits out there :-? As you can see in the photo, I also have the early foam in the upper left hand corner w...

'82 633 parts car, no affiliation...

Gents, just saw this in Craig's List, oh, not me, I'm not looking for anything #-o https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/pts/d/bmw-e24-633csi-parts/6573281618.html Appears to be the "bastard" year, MY82, based on the engine shot showing Motronic, but early door cards, etc. No affiliation [-X

The caliper paint has held up very well, can't say the same for the rotors, which of course have rusted where the pads do not contact them

Good luck with your project, please post pix when she's complete [-o<

Re: Question / Picture refer for A/C Drier

Not sure if this will help, but you can see in this photo, the drier is held in place by a hoop type bracket, secured to the inner fender well, again this is vintage 1980 :-k Also, here's a link to realoem, might want to take a look there for the MY you are trying to figure out 8) http://www.realoem...

Re: Brake calipers question

I think the E28 calipers (front and rear) are only single piston floating type :-? But looking at your rebuild photos of the rear, I can now see that those are indeed E12 calipers, which are actually 2 piston fixed type =D> Bottom line, the correct kit should have a total of 6 lines for the E12 chas...

That doesn't sound right, fanatic [-X

The E12 front brakes are 4 piston fixed calipers, but the E28 does not =;

Dang, thought you could see the 2X lines going to the caliper in this photo, but you can see the 2 rigid/fixed pipes

Think I would continue your search :-({|=

Thanks all, pretty much agree going with FAE =D>

Dug, not leaking, that I know of, just don't have any reverse lights and it's not likely that both bulbs took a header [-X

Gents, opinions please on the drastic difference in the price for a genuine BMW reverse light switch, versus FAE, whoever they are :-k

Really, $6 or $33 #-o

In fact, maybe I should just check with Ralph in SoCal, he's probably got a bag of these \:D/
