Re: Temperature gauge indication - running too cool?

I snagged this pic a while back, from an E28, but should be the same for series II 6ers :-k

Agreed on using an IR thermometer, got one recently to measure oil temp for deep frying turkeys, very handy tool =D>

Re: Cranks but Won't start - Got Spark, Fuel, Compression

+2 on the "no spark" issue, but as I have an L-jet equipped 6er, I'm not exactly sure what Pod is referring to, "two pulse generator cables" :-k

Whenever I had running issues, it was always related to the combo relay failing :-&

You mention "main relay", can you please expand on that :-?

Looking at the model year of this example ('78), it brings to mind what BMW was doing during that vintage to attempt to meet emissions restrictions, at least here in the states :-? BMW used what was called a thermal reactor ( ) and aux air pump to deal with unburnt emissions, until they fina...

Roger, this is true, and actually a very good point =D> For the USofA cars, indeed the headlights need to be on, in order for the fog lamps to work :-k In addition, if you turn on the high beams while the fogs are on, they will turn off ](*,) Silly DOT, surely some of this can be bypassed, but Song,...

Washed the missus' 5er yesterday morning and did use the dual bucket method, albeit without the dirt trap, but wow, surprised how much cleaner the soap bucket stayed  Gonna buy one of these traps, but most of my buckets won't fit the trap from Chemical Guys :-k Guess it's off to Lowe's, what ...

Tazzarti, if Carl doesn't have a fuel level sender, I can provide one to you =D> 2. Fuel level sender Photos below, it was removed from my '80 in the hopes that the replacement would cure my erratic fuel level gauge, when the level got below 1/4 :-? First stop was the old schoolhouse in the town of Bodega, which was in one of the movie scenes 8)

We took over the street in front of the schoolhouse, 3 cars wide, 34 in all

I think the schoolhouse was built in 1871 or something like that :-k

Great color Agreed, and I should know #-o I'll be following this one, although I don't see much evidence that it is in fact a 635, slushbox (no dogleg manual tranny), no rubber ducky rear spoiler, etc. :-?
