Re: Heater blower transistor failure mystery...

Was having the same issue with my blower motor, tried all combinations of transistors, all seemed to fail, my soldering was not brilliant and eventually I 'lost' that little striped resistor somewhere on my bench ! Result , bought a new unit from BMW, lubricated bushes ...

Heater Blower - Fail

My heater blower now only works on the maximum setting, this is the second time this has happened ... and I think I up rated the transistor to the 30A, 2N3771G. I also replaced the little resistor that fits across the transistor terminals. This is where I might have gone wrong ...

Re: Heater Blower Transistor

Have now unsoldered all the components in anticipation of replacing the transistor. To be fair the little resistor took a bit of a bashing heat wise to get it released from other components. As I am not as electrical expert can the heat from a soldering iron affect the resistors ...

Re: Location of A/C blower transistor - Found and fixed - DIY

I replaced the transistor and the resistor, and the variable fan now works. I used your tip of first wrapping the resistor leads around the transistor legs to get a nice fit, then installing and soldering. I bought a new heat sink (same part ...

I need an a/c blower resistor/transistor unit. I tried repairing it but am not sure all the solder joints are good. Unlike the heater unit the connections are not readily accessible and I may not have gotten all correct.

Re: Location of A/C blower transistor

Thanks. That was it. I was a bit confused becasue I was looking for one that looked like the heater blower resistor.

It must have been repalced at some point ass there was one push plug and a loose screw.

Now to try soldering in a new transistor/resistor combo.

Re: Heater blower transistor failure mystery...

Thanks. Lots of great resources here! On the heater/vent it all or nothing. If I push in the a/c button 100% variable. Works as it should. Which is why I was thinking it was the resistor. Could be the whole board I guess, but that would seem strange.

Appreciate all of the input!!!
