Re: Hydro Steering Box Bolt Removal

Just under the head is a section which is a larger diameter than the bolt itself which had rusted itself to the housing. I had a problem a long time ago removing the bolt and this was the cause. With a big enough bar on your socket it should move! PS WD40 is NOT a penetrating oil. You need something...

Re: Headlight washer pump wiring.

Thanks Chaps, Very useful info but I cannot see where the brown with black stripe in my photo goes.. There is a self-contained loom for the headlight wiper/washer system. It is plugged in to the wiper relay which is mounted behind the R/H indicator unit. #12 below. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sh...

Re: Headlight washer pump wiring.

The headlight washer pump gets its power from the R/H headlight wiper motor (but only when the lights are switched on) when it comes off the parked position.

You will notice that the L/H motor plug has 3 wires and the R/H motor plug has 4 wires. The extra wire (blue) provides the power.

Re: Strange headlamp behaviour

Check control light coming on when switching on headlights is very common. Could try cleaning all the bulb contacts and in the boot on the rear wall is the relay box. Try pulling the plug and squirt some contact cleaner into it and the socket on the box. These might explain the low power headlights....

Re: Anyone know exact markings to add side repeaters?

Bad news. I've just been out to one of my storage sheds and although I have 8 wings (5 L/H & 3 R/H) none of them have side repeater holes.

You don't HAVE to fit them to your car. At one stage they were an optional extra #860.
