Re: Radiator: BMW brand vs. aftermarket?

I had read somewhere that they have a cheaper line for the aftermarket/DIY market. I'm guessing the difference is thinner material, leading to a shorter life span. Do you have the original to count and compare the cooling tubes? That may be the answer....

Re: Rotor Arm; Lot-o-Harm?

It's cheaper to replace the rotor than to suffer tracking inside the cap. "Mind the Gap" applies here.

Re: Hydro brake mystery

Great document. The only two suggested changes are to add a date column to the version control so that each addition is specifically dated and under maintenance, a brief comment on appropriate hydraulic fluid.

It might be helpful to post the last 7 digits of the vin. BTW, if it's Bronzit w/ Beige interior, it's my twin.

Remember that dielectric grease PREVENTS current flow and is an insulator. You might consider Boeshield which is a spray-on protectant

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!

I was quoted for a full repaint, glass out in Bronzit of $10,000 for labor (including some body and rust repair work) plus $5,000 for materials and $5,000 for misc. parts. I would never consider DIY on painting, especially primer, base and clears. This was not from your typical body shop but a resto...

Sewing Machine Oil

I recently had the opportunity to restore my wife's grandmother's historic Singer 15-96 sewing machine from about 1906. It is one of those classic black, treadle operated, belt driven antiques. The key is very light sewing machine oil that comes in squirt bottles. I am now using it to protect my too...

Won't these CTEK maintainers work through the cig lighter? As I'm not a smoker I don't know if it is always hot (or not).

Technique for Changing My Diff Mount

Hi, My 84 633Csi/auto needs a new diff mount. Two possible techiques but I want to know which is best: If I put the rear up on ramps, I may be able to put a small floor jack under the diff to manage it. OR If I put the chassis up on jack stands, that would unload the rear suspension and then use the...

Song,
I haven't done the poly bushings, but you might want to inquire about the effect on ride quality. Here in the Northeast, we don't have smooth roads.

I was going to suggest an additional heatsink, too. This one works at the original mounting position with a little modification.
Hey Ken,
What is the source and stock number of this heat sink?

Thanks!

Re: My 6'er

Eric, I bought a cross-flow condenser and my next task is going to remove/rebuild the compressor. Weather just got nice enough to work outdoors on my back. I'm not planning to remove the evaporator unless when all is buttoned up and recharged, I'm left with no other choice. I guess I should also loo...

Does anyone have a purchase list to refresh the washer system, particularly the length of the tubing and the number of Oetiker clamps. My chariot is a 1984 633Csi (US version) with NO headlight washing system. Realoem only shows the item # but no quantity.

With me, it is more an issue of avoiding the winter salt bath as we use a lot on the roads. It takes some serious rain to cleanse the street so that my car doesn't rot away.

In the 50's yesterday and the battery came off the winter maintainer. She started right up and the temp stayed at the midpoint. New the real work begins.
