Re: Make it pretty!

OK, now you have seen the wicked bad welding job that my car has been subjected to. Well, I wanted to make it look a bit better, even though it's on the bottom of the car. So I crawled under there, filed it down a bit and shot it with some engine paint. It's looks a bit less bad with paint. Haha. P...

Squeaking Dash

Guys, I've got a squeak in the dash that seems to be in response to the car working over a less than smooth road. It has nothing to do with the A/C or heater as it occurs when they are off. I've never removed the dash so mis-assembly isn't the culprit. And no, the dash is not cracked or coming apart...

Re: Cooling system overhaul

Gates (the hose folks) have an interesting air-assisted flush system for removing rust and scale that simple chemical flushes don't get. Their argument is that those floating grains erode the waterpump seals leading to failure. I think they said it was a $900 item at retail. Ouch!

Re: I need professional advice on my '87 M6

I feel your pain $$$$$. In my line of work (risk analysis) my strategy is always to let the other party "prove themselves" through trial and error so that the work or process is segmented and therefore the performance and financial risk is contained. You now need to fight a battle on two fronts: res...

Entry Level Welding Equipment

Song's experience with half-a##ed welding prompted this post. Hornhospital had some advice and I'd like to put it in the appropriate spot to get opinions on stick, MIG, TIG and gas.

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!

Just out of curiosity, did you seen the welding machine he was using? Based on that skill level, I would wonder about their body work too. I'm looking for an entry level welding set up and Hornhospital may have the most experience on BC. If anyone else can make some specific recommendations, mostly ...

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!

Regarding the tendency of the #6 to overheat: Since the block drain is between #5 and #6, is it feasible to plumb in an "auxiliary" cooling line into the opening? Make it a bit more useful. Perhaps use a thin copper tube and take it off the 12mm screw plug on top of the T-stat housing. Not a fully b...

It now look like I will be in Orlando at the end of Feb, so if all goes well, maybe we can get together!

Very sweet. I love the color combo. Similar to my E32. Sure wish I had more room on the property for another.....
But more pics would help to entice buyers.

Re: Polishing Hella glass fog lights

I was just reading a how-to manual on autoglass repair including polishing. I think the 3M product you used is cerium oxide powder which can be mixed with water to a slurry and used with either a DA or orbital polisher.
