Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

News to me too. I have both DE and UK brochures from the 1970's to the late 1980's, lhd and rhd and all show a black number plate surround - please show some evidence of the vinyl sticker other than your own car which may have had it done to it during a restoration. I've had many E24's and seen hund...

Doesn't look much like an M88 cam cover to me!
We discussed this years ago Ron! Click on the old thread

As far as the Highline interior is concerned, I would have liked it far more in Black!

That black painted panel where the licence plate mounts is supposed to be body colour. It was only painted black by dealers in markets where the local licencing rules demanded the number plate be mounted on a contrasting background for legibility reasons (allegedly) like the UK. In my car's case, i...

I have a mint unused one of them for my car- if Kos needs it I can send it for him to copy- I did a similar thing for some now unobtainable Alpina wheel stickers last year IIRC.

Re: Mystery spot in the toolkit box

Brucey, you are of course, right again. It's the 12/13 open spanner, but again, you can get the correct length ones. I am of course completely wrong again - it isn't a 12/13mm open, it's a 10/11mm open ](*,) Pictured are the 10/11mm open just above the contentious slot; then in the foreground there...

That seal is/was NLA in Europe a few years ago when I restored my M635CSi but I managed to find a NOS one from somewhere in Germany - my old one was buggered and the new seal did make a huge difference to engine smells. On another note has anyone ever thought about trying to fabricate wire or foam (...

Re: 1983 Gp. A (E24-RA1-08)

Rather oddly I ended up with an Alpina Group A ECU for a car like this; I'd bought it of t'internet as it had a stock BMW case for my 1982 car but on opening it up and checking the interior it had an Alpina part number on it; I checked the part number with Buchloe as I didn't recognise it and they c...

Re: Tire Size Combination

Resurrecting the topic as I am looking for some advice on what tires to get. I just picked up a set of staggered RC90s (aka Style 5): 17x8 ET20 (front) 17x9 ET22 (back) I was looking to use some 235/45/17 Michelin PS I have for the front. I was wondering which way to go for the rear, 255/40 or 265/...

Re: Rare 1977 BMW 630CS Alpina B2 ?

Early Alpina's such as this are really quite hard to verify. I would suggest the only real way is to note down the BMW chassis number and Plaque number of the car in question and then e-mail Buchloe to politely ask whether they think it matches their records. IIRC B2's were made from E9, E12, E23, a...

Then it's an M30 engine with the current oil pressure sensor switch (operating the oil pressure light on the dash clocks) on the rear of the cylinder head just beyond the camshaft rocker cover. It has a single wire going to it, and is probably the best and easiest place to remove the existing sensor...

Does need some rust repair by the look of it. Am I right in saying that it's not a true original Alpina or is there no such thing - were they all conversions? all converted for the UK market they'd take a stock 635csi, en engine would be shipped over from germany, that would be fitted along with su...

All those add up to just over a quarter of the rhd drive cars originally ordered for the UK (excluding the M635CSi's).

Not bad for 30 to 40 year old cars.

Lubed up the ever-so-slightly bonkers brake bar mechanism found on right hand drive pre-1985? cars - I used the spray on High temp Lithium grease so fingers crossed it will last a little while. I wonder if this is different from the stuff I'm using on my throttle linkage rose joints (the sticky one...
