Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Single bonnet strut replacement on the 635CSi. I had replaced both of them about 5 years ago when I re-commissioned the car, but recently the bonnet has taken a few chunks out of my noggin so I ordered up a new pair. On replacing the first old one it was obvious it had absolutely no resistance at al...

Clothes-line pegs and gorilla glue day today for the 635CSi - those who've BTDT will know what I mean.
Rear speaker pods, by any chance? It's all about the sikaflex for me!
The last lot of gorilla glue lasted about ten years but yes, rear speaker pods - have a virtual beer on me!

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Installed a factory toggle switch that lets me enable/disable the automatic antenna without affecting my subwoofer amp. Now I can keep the antenna retracted whenever I'm not using the tuner. Installed it in one of the empty slots below the radio. Looks like it belongs there! I did this many years a...

Re: My E24 passion

Just updating this thread - my 1982 635CSi has passed it's 33rd MoT and has just two more to vercome to get to 40 years old and no longer require the rigours of a yearly inspection. It did require an entire exhaust system (courtesy of Fritz Bitz) and a recent brake bomb but then sailed through with ...

Re: CUSTOM / SPORTS EXHAUST OPTIONS

I've just fitted a Fritz system to the standard downpipes and manifold on my early Series 2 635CSiA. AFAIK, the system is the same for all E24's from 628 to ///M. When you call them you do have to put up with the silly bhp banter... "Don't you want the manifold and the extra 25bhp" ... then a "We fi...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Did a run around of the 635CSi today in advance of its MoT tomorrow morning; I've recently replaced the exhaust, several bulbs, the brake accumulator, and some other bits, and today I had the 36 year old AC successfully re-charged... and then I went back in underneath the car to tighten the compress...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Haven't been out on the road as it was late but it sounds ok - a bit raspy I suppose but I'm not really raving about it. I bought it as a cost effective and easy to fit replacement exhaust system, not as a performance element, whether real or imagininary.

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Fitted the Fritz Bitz exhaust system from the downpipes back. I can confirm that putting the system on takes approximately one fifth of the time it takes to get the old bastard off.

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Took delivery of a Fritz Bitz exhaust system for my 635CSi; I've had the car over 20 years and put an almost new but secondhand system on it when I bought the car so I think I've had my moneys worth out of it. I just hope the rest of the car will pull itself through an MoT at the end of next month. ...

Headlamp height adjustment tubes. They should be full of liqued but age embrittles them - I've never seen a working set.

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

After almost 25 years of E24 ownership I finally changed my first brake bomb, on my 635CSi. Pretty easy and straight forward in the end; I purchased a set of six sided flare spanners, and just took care to make sure all the unions threaded back together straight and true. After surveying to see if t...

Speedo sensor wiring goes down the inside of the rhd drivers sill under the carpet, under the rear right hand seat and out from under the right hand seat along with the fuel pump wiring.

Re: Window Drop Down on door opening

I suspect use the heated door lock switch to engage a pcb circuit or short time relay (circa 0.25 secs) to drop the window a fraction and then use a contact on the the interior light relay going off to engage a similar pcb/short term hold relay to push the window back up for just over that length of...
