My aftermarket exhaust is too loud!

The noise coming from my exhaust is too loud and I would like to muffle this. I have a stainless steel middle silencer and end silencer, I think from Ireland Engineering. And an aftermarket catalyst, brand unknown perhaps Magnaflow?? I have the impression that the middle silencer is hollow, when I t...

Re: Best exterior color to match a black interior

Red is popular! Is also very beautiful, and matches perfectly with a black interior. But your white E24 is very beautiful too Phil! I know your interior is grey but with black it would be a good match too. I had a simular feeling, almost all Royal blue E24s have a light-colored or blue interior. My ...

Re: Temperature gauge malfunction

Today I disassembled the cockpit again completely. Batteries measured, although they have 11-1989 printed on them, they were neatly 3v and were not leaking. All good here. Then sanded all contacts, pins and cleaned them and the sockets with a brush with contact spray. Put everything back together an...

Re: Best exterior color to match a black interior

Silver is a very good match with a black (or red in your case) interior.
Has been my favorite car color for years, but as I have owned several silver colored cars, I think I will take a different color now.
Anyway, certainly a very nice match! Thanks. =D>

Re: Best exterior color to match a black interior

For sure, wonderful combination! Good tip. Must say that I really like the Highline model in white as well, like this one: https://oldcolonelcars.co.uk/listing/bmw-e24-6-series-m635i-m6-highline-manual/ My original color Bronzitbeige, but with new shiny paint can also be nice. Like this one, but the...

Re: Best exterior color to match a black interior

Oh yes, that is definitely a great color choice!
The Highline models with Shadowline finish are really magnificent!

Re: Best exterior color to match a black interior

I found that Royal Blue is a metallic paint. The strange thing is that it has so many different shades, in the sun it is blue, in the shade almost black. Looks a bit like a pearl effect paint. Does anybody know why it has these different shades? Royal Blue Metallic, 198 ,09/1986 thru 02/1989 Anybody...

Re: Temperature gauge malfunction

Thanks! Interesting links. :D
This looks identical in the E24 as in the E30.
I do read that normaly mutliple things stop working (oil/ led's/ temp).
Will take out the cluster again and check the batteries.

Re: Temperature gauge malfunction

Thanks for your reply and help! =D> As I'm sure now it is within the cluster, I am thinking of sending it to a repair shop for a decent repair. I am afraid to damage it when trying to bridge. Found your resistor box, what a good idea! Googled a bit around and found this one, not variable but quite s...

Re: Temperature gauge malfunction

Thanks for the info and assistance guys!! =D> I did some tests again today, below my findings. Hope you guys can think of something to solve this issue. 1) Pull out the coolant temperature sender. Pop it in hot water and read the resistance change. Replace if required. I did Ralph's way, drove a lap...

Re: Best exterior color to match a black interior

Royal Blue is a fantastic color, but the E24's I see all have light color or blue interiors. Now that I am writing this, I just remembered this great Royal Blue shark I saw last year. As I remember correctly it had a black interior. https://bmwe24.nl/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/20190518_151511-1.jpg ...

Best exterior color to match a black interior

Not that my shark is going to be resprayed any time soon, but still, I do like to dream about it. 8) My interior is black leather. My exterior is Bronzitbeige. I will not change the black interior, I will leave it as it is. What do you think is the most beautiful exterior color in combination with a...

Re: Temperature gauge malfunction

Today I tried to fix the problem but so far without luck. I opened the cluster and looked for bad solder or bad connections. I have not noticed anything bad. I noticed that the pins of the gauge PCB mounted on the mainboard were oxidized, so I sanded and cleaned the pins with a brush with contact sp...

Yes it was replaced. I am doing a total world bumper conversion, just like you :D
I do have almost all parts for it, just miss the right rear bumper trim and the 2 strips on the front bumper.

Re: This Sucks

Good post Ralph. Yes, it sucks big time. Something we have never experienced on such a scale. I see people in panic buying all they can get their hands on, or isolating as much as possible. On the other hand I see kids playing in the streets and people moving around as if it is just an ordinary day....

Re: BMW E24 US front bumper tuck / lipo

Glad it helped! The original license plate holder is 33.5 cm wide. The Euro model is 56 cm wide, much wider than the US model. This results in a difference of 11.25 cm per side (4.4 inch). I am sure the rubber is thinner at the end, I do not know how much though and am not able to measure it as it i...

Re: BMW E24 US front bumper tuck / lipo

On my car the gap is zero, see photo. The reason for this is that I have added a Euro license plate holder (of a 88/89 model) and moved the existing rubber strip outwards. When moving them outwards, the thicker piece of the strip goes around the corner and closes the gap. With a US license plate hol...

Temperature gauge malfunction

After reinstalling my dashboard my temperature dash gauge no longer works.
Everything works except this gauge.
The gauge worked fine before removing the dashboard.

Anyone have an idea what the cause might be?
Thanks for the help.
