Re: FREE: Rr. Speaker Pods (older style) - Pay shipping.

I just don't need them. I've got a set of the newer "premium" pods in my car now. I hate to trash them, but my wife is on me to clean up the parts room, and some stuff has to go. Actually I was prodding you to take on another fiberglass project! I saw that you were having rear spoilers ma...

Dean, why not send these to your fiberglass guy and have them make some out of 'glass? \:D/

Re: Bonnet louvres for cooling

Funny, I just saw an advertiser in this months Roundel mag selling these. They were to be riveted in, but to have them punched into the sheetmetal may actually look ok if done well. I had the same thoughts on my jag xj6c years back. There were a couple guys that had them punched and they looked pret...

Re: Suspension - Lateral Movement

Thanks slofut, but I haven't replaced the flex disk or cb yet. I'll be honest, I've been a little intimidated to remove the center bearing from the drive shaft and press the new one on. I was hoping the trans mounts would solve the shudder. I'm just going to have to get in there and do it. Thanks f...

Re: Suspension - Lateral Movement

Brandon, if you replaced the dshaft center bearing there is a certain amount of preload (slots in the bolt holes) it needs to keep from vibrating. It's in the manuals etc but I just guestimate it and haven't had any problems.

Man, I was just about to offer some help. Replaced 2 head gaskets thus far and it is getting easier every time.
How long does it take you? Do you pull the intake first, or leave in intact?

Re: 1986 5 speed car on Denver CL

I'd buy that in a heartbeat if it was closer to me! Sport seats and a 5spd! Not really that bad, lots of nice cars need seat covers anyway. Diamond in the rough! DON'T take it all apart for a complete resto. Paint it, do all the hoses and maintenence items under the hood, fix the key thing and start...

Could be Pearl Beige, your vin number will tell the story. Color codes are also on an id plate, probably on the fenderwell or door jamb but I can't remember.

All the normal bmw suppliers have them. I got some from Rock Auto for pennies once. Don't have a part number handy but just google it, should pop up no problem.

Re: M30B35 blew head gasket

Repair for sure Franco! I wouldn't swap the motor unless it's seized and too bad to rebuild. The B35 is a bit different than earlier versions making a swap more difficult (others correct me if I'm wrong here). Your mechanic should know the basic steps to evaluate the condition of the motor, check co...

Re: New guy, new problem!

Hi Franco, Two nice e24's you have there! At least it wasn't the m6 that blew the head gasket. Did it run really hot when this happened? A good independent mechanic that knows bmw's should have no problem doing this. While the head is off there are other bits that would benefit from attention and wo...

Re: what paint to use??

POR15 is a moisture cured urethane. 2 part, moisture being the catalyst. Very different from basic enamels. Try the spray brake cleaner test on both... I prefer KBS brand. Search MCU coatings, lots of interesting info!

Change that fuel filter! And the "dry" hose that you cut back. Problem is, if there's crud in the main filter then the tank sock is prob clogged too.
