Hi Soperman. sorry you couldn't make Duxford today. I arrived late due to another commitment and was surprised to see 14 E24s there! I think we only had 4 or 5 last year so it was great to see more of our cars on the road. Getting your tapes out of the attic must have brought back some memories. I h...

OK, my bad  . After a query came up at the Duxford show about M635 production dates I have double checked mine and my car came off the line 1st April, not 1st May. I had written the wrong date in my history file. I feel like an April fool now....I'll put it down to old age.......Never mind, we...

Hi Andy, I also have spent many a happy hour with a soldering iron repairing damaged tracks on my SI board. To help with this I found the attached photos useful. A few times after re-assembly things either started working or stopped working. Most of the time this was because of bad contacts through ...

The wheels are 17" RC090 Style 5's from an E39 Sports touring. I had both the centres and rims professionally polished, then had the centres clear-coated but left the rims uncoated so that I could keep them polished. I then put them together myself using new chrome bolts. I rattle canned the pl...

Thanks for your kind words John. I have to say that I fitted the used Supersprint system out of necessity, as the original system started blowing half way through the showing season last year. At first I thought it a bit too raucous for my taste, but after driving it for a while it actually becomes ...

My M635 - Happy 30th Birthday

My M635csi came off the production line 1st May 1985 and so turned 30 years old today. To celebrate I took her out this morning and took a few shots of her.

I can't make the 29th I'm afraid, but planning to be at Duxford again and definitely up for another ML Ramp day, if it can be organised.

Hi Pod Chassis #004 (built Oct 84) is alive and well and showed up at Gaydon last year. #003 (the first built Sep 84, as it is believed #001 & #002 were RHD prototypes scrapped by BMW) was supposed to be being rebuilt and was last seen in a sad state somewhere in the Midlands. #010 (built Jan 85...

So many Ferrari's

Thanks John for making us aware of this, great event, and good to meet up again. I have tried to guess how many Ferrari's were there and it has to be over 200. Here are some photo's.

Update on TB vacuum gauge readings

Having realised that trying to use one vacuum gauge to take measurements, and at some point potentially make some adjustments to the air mix for each TB is problematic, I have managed to find the set up in the pic. This works well and the photo shows the readings I got at tick-over. When I blip the ...

Hi Dave, I'm about to embark on swapping engines in my M635 myself and would be very interested in knowing more about how you dropped the engine/transmission out from underneath. Have you any photos of the lift you used or any of the process please? How high did you need to lift the front of the car...

Hey Brucey, thanks for your kind words. I hadn't even considered trying to look at the vacuum set up on a bench! Probably a bit too advanced for me...... I have started getting some baseline figures from my installed engine as a start point but I found you need to seriously restrict the vacuum pipe ...

Firstly Gareth, apologies for the late response but I have been away. Now I'd like to tell you that I had the TBs and head soda blasted to get the desired results, as I understand that is the best way. However, the truth is, I cheated. Today's mystery part

I thought this was something I had hacksawed off my oldest son's Peugeot a few years back and accidently thrown in the crate, so I ignored it. However, closer inspection reveals this hasn't been sawn but properly formed, although quite rusty. Any guesses where it might come from? Of course it could ...

Cleaning Fuel Injectors

Another task I decided to tackle was to clean and check the fuel injectors. I wondered whether there was a simple way to test they work without sending them off to a specialist company. Anyone recognise this small plate?

Found this at the bottom of the crate that came with this spare M88/3 engine amongst a load of nuts, bolts, pipes, clips etc. I have searched through RealOEM and can't find anything that looks like it. Could just be a bit of random metal someone threw in there, back in the day, or it might be someth...
