Re: Gauge question

I think I have it figured out. Chris Kohler has a proper gauge and we know the sending unit is Euro and appears to be good as we swapped it out with another and still a problem at the gauge. New NA ones are still available and if it turns out I have to go that way, I will just swap out the dial face...

Gauge question

If I take a NA gas/temp gauge and switch the faceplate to Euro metric one, should the calibration still be the same?

Mine is the same, but once you are moving one hand will do it

Re: 1980 Power Steering - is mine working correctly?

IMO if you are questioning whether it’s too hard to turn, and if you can’t easily turn it with one hand, something is wrong. It should pretty much feel like most modern sporty cars. Or like your friend’s E28. When working properly no one would say an E24 is “hard” to turn. My 81 with all new hoses ...

Re: Wheel decisions?!?!!

The TRX wheels that came off my car had the insert cap that went in from the back of the wheel for open lug. I wonder/think these might do what you need and if they fit just put the Alpina logo on them they are still dealer available at about $27 maybe a bit more Look at #6 on the parts list I have ...

Re: Door Lock Cylinder Code Visible After Removing inner Door Panel?

Then pull the trunk cylinder if you can get to it Much easier to pull than the door cylinders. Doesn't make sense that you can't get a key from BMW because it's not registered. All you should have to do is show them the title if you have it. My car is a Euro as well and I do have to show them the ti...

Re: Tail light bezel/housing removal

Firstly, if as original, the upholstery panel at the rear of the trunk is just held on by plastic clips so you should be able to apply some pressure to pop it off. Then you will see the nuts that are on the studs from the bezel. Sometimes because of age the gasket could be dried out so be careful to...

Re: 1988 M6 Cylinder Head Cover Torque Specification

Your chart shows 11-15 #s -30% if it' a zinc or cadmium plated bolt . My thought are still around 10 #s. You may be over thinking this. So do 10#s and if the cover leaks, do some more. I never torqued my cover on my motor. Just tightened the bolts or nuts till I felt resistance and gave it one more ...

Re: Door Lock Cylinder Code Visible After Removing inner Door Panel?

Next try. Take the gbox cylinder to a locksmith and he should be able to figure it out by the size of the pins. That's if I am correct that the key is the same for all of the locks

Re: 1988 M6 Cylinder Head Cover Torque Specification

I have the factory torque manual. I see 2 things. One specifies for the cam covers at 6-8 #s. The other references an 8mm bolt and says it shouldn't be torqued over 12#s. A fly by the seat of your pants method I use is to tighten the bolt all the way and then give it one last pull and you can feel i...

Re: Window switch, complete

I have plenty of switches, but not the female plug. As to your shift boot, any auto upholstery shop can make one up copying your original. Price of new ones is off the charts? I think some guy in GB has them on eBay but not as original as they don't have the zipper

Re: Refinishing BBS RC090 Wheels - Pictorial and Video

Here is one of mine. Professionally polished at $40 per wheel plus all hardware newly chromed Center caps are from a '90's Lincoln town car and fit perfectly. Rondel came from a BMW dealer and also fit exactly right If you are so inlined the BBS logos will fit as well
