Best price for E12 based heater valve???

Any idea where to find a heater valve 64 11 1 359 634 for an early E12 based car (before 9/82) for less then $140? I seem to recall that I was able to buy one for less then $70 before, guess times have changed. http://www.bavauto.com//assets/product_images/hardpart/64111359634.jpg Or maybe somebody ...

I don't think that is much of a problem or too hard to accomplish. If you are concerned about overloading the wiring, consider using LED's.

Klaus can you provide a model number for the MAC left turn drill set you referenced? I cannot aany of the sets on line even the craftsman set you mentioned. Regards, Jay Jay, the set I am using is MAC 35LHDES, which includes extractors and corresponding left hand drill bits: http://www.mactools.com...

Klaus you are correct that there is no reason for the head to come off aside from attempting to get the studs out. Since the engine is out of the car we will attempt using the easy-out tool and I will search for a set of left turn drill bits. Is the Desco a good quality set? Regards, Jay Jay, I jus...

Ok, a few comments... I assume that you are talking about the manifold studs broken off inside the cylinder head, probably flush or slightly below the surface. Is there are legitimate reason to remove the head and replace the head gasket? Any suspicion that the gasket is weak or any other head servi...

Klaus, stock bars, or at least the ones that are on my car, and which I believe to be original, are 25mm front and 18 or 19mmm rear. That looks consistent with the ETK, front bar on US and EURO models at 24mm (didn't see an option for 25mm, might be a measuring error due to coating or paint) and 16...

I didn't know that Koni was still making shocks that fit the E24. Where are they available? Not sure what is still available, I had mine for about 5 years, bought from an EBay seller that was liquidating a complete warehouse full of them. Last time I checked, front ones were still available, rear o...

George thanks for the detailed reply, this confirms that the problem is created by my setup. The stock bars were FT 24mm/ RR 16mm, the RD bars are FT 26mm/ RR 19mm. I am using adjustable, red KONI's, the fronts are set almost all the way hard, the rears are pretty much in the middle. So I am going t...

Racing Dynamics Sway Bar Adjustment...

Finally got to try out the Racing Dynamics Sway Bars on my '81, while the front ones have the updated brackets for the E12 based subframe, urethane bushings and solid links (also with urethane bushings, almost factory length), the rear one has three adjustment holes in the bar itself and ball end at...

I don't think either choice of standard 2-row brass or E28 style aluminum radiator will produce any problems in Alaska. Only difference might be life expectancy, brass around 10-15 years, plastic/aluminum <5 years, brass can be repaired and cleaned, aluminum gets disgarded and replaced (tank replace...

Everything is in and reasonably complete, filled up all the fluids, powered the fuel pump with a jumper wire to adjust the fuel pressure and flush the lines, disconnected the distributor and cranked a few seconds to prime the oil pump and she started right up... New dual exhaust system is definitely...

As Bert said, don't think as the aluminum/plastic junk as an upgrade, easier and cheaper to produce and can be assembled by unskilled labor. Anyway, here is a link showing the installation of the E28 style radiator into an E12, the mounting points are the same for the early E24: http://www.firstfive...

Re: Tip wanted regarding window washer hose replacement

Hello everyone, I was a bit confused about where to place this post. Has anyone replaced their transparent/white rubber tubing that feeds the window washer nozzles? It runs inside the bonnet and putting the tube through is a real PITA. If you have any good tips, please let me know. Just did that la...

winfred, thanks for the picture, I assumed that the hood was using the emission sticker and the parts sticker. Looks to me like an early 80's, aftermarket cruise control actuator.
They had a tendency to freeze up after a few years and were fairly inaccurate to start out with.

If that's the case you can simply remove the assembly without any problems.

Winfred, thanks for the pictures, I slowly starting to think that the stickers placement was more randomly then standardized. Never seen a version with the original parts and A/C sticker on the hood, would be interesting to know why the emissions label was not placed there. Anyway, I don't have a go...

Klaus, unfortunately none of the literature I have really shows much of anything under the hood :?
