Re: Timing Specs 77/78 M90 635CSi EURO
Brucey, I looked at the FirstFives FAQ and came to the conclusion that I most likely have to play around with the timing on a experimental basis in order to find an acceptable setting. I agree with your statement about current gas quality, it does not even appear to be consistent from station to sta...

Re: Modified throttle bodies survey/thoughts
Bert, I might be interested in that, also have a few extra, early throttle bodies if you need some to play around with!

Re: Timing Specs 77/78 M90 635CSi EURO
:D ... no pun intended! But on a serious note... can somebody please post a picture of an emission label showing the timing specs of an early M90 L-Jet. I know that the reference mark is at 22 degrees, I really would like to know what the target rpm is. The only reference is found so far shows 1700 ...

Timing Specs 77/78 M90 635CSi EURO
Can anybody please check what the factory timing is supposed to be for an 77 or 78 m90 EURO 635? I currently have it set with the 22 deg mark at 2200 rpm with both vacuum hoses disconnected and plugged. Engine has notable ping under heavy acceleration from about 3-5k rpm.
Thanks in advance,
Klaus

Re: Pacific Sharkfest date and location are set!!!
We had our hotel reservation for a while, will start traveling Thursday from Las Vegas and hook up with the group traveling from the Sacramento area on Friday morning. I would just like to point something out... If we actually plan on using the hotel's parking lot as staging area, we should have our...

Re: Rear Sunshade manufacturer
"Sonnenschutzrollo" translates to "Retractable Sun Shade" in German, I really don't think you are going to find any manufacturer's information out of the parts sticker. Most likely by the format it's a sticker for a replacement part.

Re: Rear Skirt for World Bumpers?
Thanks for the reply Bob, #2 is what I am currently using. What I was aiming for was more something in the range of the M-Technic rear valance for the Euro bumpers or the Racing Dynamics rear valance for earlier US bumpers.

Rear Skirt for World Bumpers?
I am in the middle of a World Bumper conversion of my '81, with some minor twists. The front spoiler is going to be a modified '85 version and I was able to source some matching side skirts that just require some minor modifications. So here is the question... Is there a rear skirt available that fi...

WTB: Front & Rear World Bumper Parts
I am in the process of converting my '81 to world bumpers. Collected all the parts and intended to reuse my early US aluminum bars. Even with modifications that does not work! So, I needs both front and rear aluminum world bumper bars and the rear valence piece under the bumper. Condition is not tha...

Pacific Sharkfest in Hemmings Sport & Exotic
Imagine my surprise when I opened the February 2017 Edition of Hemmings Sport & Exotic and found a 1/4 page blurb about PSF 2016. Only thing unclear to me is why Paul just welcomes inquiries of 635 owners, I thought we were more open minded then that :D ! Maybe we are going to see a few fresh fa...

Just a quick update, ended up buying a 3.64 big case differential, just need to find some time to go through it and install it.

Re: Suggestions for rear end ratio change
I'm actually next year sometime installing the getrag 420g 6spd in the 6 series so I can have the short spaced gearing with some cruising ability. I'll have to make up an adaptor for the bellhousing which will be fun. I thought I read somewhere that the 420g is quiet huge compared to the 260 or 265...

Re: Suggestions for rear end ratio change
Ralph, that is actually a pretty good description. I always forget that you know my stomping grounds! So far I have been very lucky with keeping the average at 85 mph, I run my Valentine 1 at the newest software and always make sure I have a rabbit near by. Actually the M90 pulls like a freight trai...

Re: Suggestions for rear end ratio change
"Lugging" was probably a poor choice of wording. Problem is more that I am reving pretty high in 4th and when I shift into 5th I could use a few more rpms, especially on hills. It's probably just a matter of 300-400 rpm, not really a major issue, would just be nice to use 5th gear other th...

Re: Rondell 58 wheel fitment and tires
Ken, Stolen from Wikipedia: "Tramlining is the tendency of a vehicle's wheels to follow the contours in the surface upon which it runs. The term comes from the tendency of a car's wheels to follow the normally recessed rails of street trams, without driver input in the same way that the train d...

Suggestions for rear end ratio change
Getting closer to final debugging, next thing on my list is the differential. Car started as 1981 633CSi automatic with open 3:45 differential. Now I am running a slightly older European spec M90 and a 5 speed out of an E30 M3, should be a Getrag 265? I did some slight modifications to match the M90...

Re: Rondell 58 wheel fitment and tires
Finally getting around to an update. I ended up with 225/45R17 Sumitomo's in the front, clearance to the early strut housings is about 10 mm, absolutely no rubbing lock to lock. 235/45R17 would have definitely required a spacer and probably would have produced some rubbing issues. Tire looks nice an...

Re: Can A Rear Muffler Be Bought "a la Carte"?
OK people, don't laugh! When I bought my '81 many years ago the rear muffler was complete rusted out. I didn't want to spend money on a new exhaust so a local muffler shop adapted a John Deere tractor muffler to it by combining both tubes into the single in and single out muffler. If I remember righ...

I bought a new one from BMW last year, 51161839620, paid less then $100 for it. Reason I bought this one is I needed the metal mounting frame. If you are just trying to replace an existing one and the metal frame is still usable, AGLAUSA.COM makes excellent copies for the zippered one, even in custo...

Re: A/C blower motor with cages for early car
I was trying to pull the cages of my burned out A/C blower and had it laying on the work bench soaking. Needless to say, I bumped it and it fell to the ground, breaking on cage. After looking at it, I am not really sure that I would have been able to remove the cages in the first place. So, looking...
