Well, as there were quiet a few requests..., even if it's completely OT. Last Thursday I fixed a frame of a Medium Duty Chevrolet, repairing some sag after an incorrect accessory installation and some impact damage. I used a specialized C-Tool, which goes into the inside of the frame rail and is eit...

Well, looks like you have to count me out. I actually managed to almost amputate a finger tip last week, glove saved it from being removed completely. After some emergency repairs last Thursday, I got the bad news today that I need a lot more surgery, Thursday they are trying put the bones and joint...

Looks like I am in, by looking at the map the Sport Chalet parking lot appears to be the best choice for the pre-meet. Maybe we should crosspost to the other E24 forums and the E12 and E28 guys to judge interest. Registration is definitely required for the event, not sure where the sudden registrati...

I haven't updated this thread in a while, a lot of other things going on.. Anyway, I talked to the upholsterer I used a couple of weeks ago, as he is finishing up some of my interior details. He still has the original set of templates, but I really got the idea that he is not interested in doing any...

Any halfway decent hydraulic supply house will have the required sizes in stock, they are 14x20mm and 16x22mm. On a funny note, BMW used to provide the seals in Aluminum, if you order the actual part numbers now you will receive Copper. Not sure what the reasoning is... In perfect world the seals sh...

Sensor dimensions should be the same from the shoulder to the tip...give or take half a millimeter. The threads are iron pipe size and tapered. If you know its not cross threaded, cinch that puppy down. Careful, the O2 sensor does not use any type of pipe threads, the threads are never tapered and ...

OK, hold your horses... The spoiler in question is a copy of the M-Tech spoiler by dimension, the top surface is smooth, no rubber insert. I bought mine from Erebuni when they closed out their stock around 2004, sure looks like the same mold was used to produce the ones offered by Wings West. If I r...

OK, I have to finalize my schedule for May in the next couple of days, still interested in going to Pasadena on the 22nd. Anyway, it appears as if the placement arrangements are the biggest draw back, parking cars in the order of arrival. I can happily survive another day without being parked in by ...

Wow, that's a really interesting question... I went through this before when I installed my M90. I was unable to find the specification for the original head dimensions, even in the factory manual. I ended up assuming that the engine I used was untouched with the original head gasket judging by the ...

I solved the problem by wiring a relay with direct connection to the battery and I am using the starter wire as a trigger for the relay. It is mounted to the backside of the Combo Relay bracket, just a regular 30A relay with a 20A fuse and appropiate wiring. Since then, no more problems... Klaus Kl...

Re: Okay, what's the fix?
Here's the sitch. My 1985 Euro automatic has always had ignition issues. The PO used -and I continue to- a wire, alligator clipped to a lead on the starter for when key starting failed. I'd get in the car, turn the key and it would either start or give me nothing. No click. Very occasionally, there...

OK, a couple of comments... I just did a pretty much routine rebuild on the M90 I put into my '81. The engine had probably around 100k miles when I bought it and the head gasket started to show some signs of leakage between the bores, dry compression still checked out OK. After looking at aftermarke...

Picture request for early E24 toolkit
Could somebody with an unmolested toolkit please take a picture and post it? I am looking for the original configuration of the kit before 9/82, which are the E12 based cars. I have a few pictures of the E12 toolkit, but it turns out that the tray is not identical to the early E24. Also, one socket ...

Was the work done locally or was it sent out? Doesn't seem too expensive to get a dash as good as the pictures of yours. Would like information on the vendor. Do you have pictures of the process you did on your dash? Thanks. As previously stated, work was done by a specialized upholsterer, local to...

After looking around for a while I found the announcement for Bimmerfest 2010 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, May 22nd: http://www.bimmerfest.com/event.php I might be tempted to attend, but looking at the pictures it looks more like a E36, E46 and "$800 per month lease" event with more fake ...

Re-stiching a leather dash is kind of tricky, as the leather has a tendency to shrink and harden with age. Redoing it is not that big of a problem, money wise you would be looking at about the same amount as the standard vinyl dash. Problem is to find an upholsterer that knows how to work on project...

OK, looks like I was dealing with a few separate problems... After cycling the heater valve a few times, the leakage went away. Thanks for the link, Chris, can not say that I have ever seen it before. Good to know that there is a problem with the replacement valves, not sure if this has been addressed by BMW. Drew, my valve leaks pretty intermittently, stays bone dry for a while and then starts dripping without moving the va...
