Re: Cabin fuel smell
Just for information, i've recently swapped out the fuel pressure regulator for a new Bosch replacement as well as a new air flow meter - car is running much smoother now, noticeably less rich than before and the cabin fuel smell is much reduced; might have been the seal on the old fpr causing the s...

Re: Central Locking Module
The module itself is accessed through the glovebox - open the box and pull out the plastic pins securing the straps either side and lower it down, then unclip the vinyl panel from the back of it. On the right you should see a black plastic cover retained by 2 small screws - these secure the cover to...

Re: how many 635's have you encounter? (Encountered)
Saw this beauty in East Finchley (North London) this morning, outside a very nice looking house with a nice looking porsche parked up next to her. Only a couple of miles from mine (St Johns Wood) - owner on here?

Re: More sensors - which ones are these...?
Thanks again. I've checked over the hoses and can't see any perishing or loose fittings so i don't think there are leaks. Is the AFM easy to test / check for wear or is using a known good spare the best / only way to confirm? If the latter, any good Samaritans here have one i can borrow...?

Re: those pesky headlight wash/wipe bits....
Thanks Martyn. My testing to date has only been at the actuator itself out of the rest of the system so the relay doesn't come into play at this point. I believe there must always be a closed circuit from brown to either yellow or violet, it can't be neither as the motor would then never start and t...

Re: those pesky headlight wash/wipe bits....
Been a while since this thread was active but I received a notification via email. @Candycj1 (didn't sign your real name). If you are so sure that your testing was 100% then my first thought would be a problem in the connector. Maybe it was just some corrosion which has been partially cleaned by th...

Re: Damaged sensor ID - Thermo time?
you have got no 7th injector and no thermotime switch on an E24 with the M30B35 motor fitted (~7/87 onwards). Check the wire colours against the wiring diagram to be sure but I think the two contacts in that fitting are a) the sender for the temperature gauge in the dashboard and b) the switch for ...

Re: More sensors - which ones are these...?
Your photos are not super clear (not least because they are on photophuckit and to the rest of the world have a stupid and highly obtrusive watermark on them) . If you want to get familiar with your motor there are three ways you can do it 1) Look in an online ETK (realoem or BMWfans perhaps); this...

Adding to this old thread rather than starting a new one, hope Brucey and co are watching! I've removed both sides, disassembled, cleaned and lubed everything - second pivot both sides was indeed seized but after much persuasion is now nice and free on both. Slave side is working perfectly, thankful...

Re: Headlight Aim Control
OK so i get that means out of the same hole the originals came from (holes visible in pic 1 from the old pipes long since perished), do you then mean they come through the firewall via the big grommet in pic 2 though? Wondering if there's not an easier way into the engine bay as that grommet is pret...

with apologies for the 3rd post on a similar topic in 5 minutes, any idea why i have a tied-off connector next to my ICV - am i missing a sensor or is this an optional item or surplus wiring...? https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/p412/candycj1/0/a5fb1014-c3c7-4622-bed9-10cfb9b16016-original.jpg?...

11/87 euro e24 - these 3 are on the left side of the engine. One looks like it goes to the sump - oil level sensor? The other two disappear into the bowels. Trying to learn as much as i can about this engine so appreciate guidance on what i'm looking at here. The one on the left seems to terminate h...

Damaged sensor ID - Thermo time?
Hi all - need some guidance please, is the crusty and damaged sensor in the picture below the thermo time switch? Its on the themostat housing of my 11/87 build year euro e24 next to the CTS so i *think* i'm rigt its thermo switch? Its in a sorry state as per the pic, plug is loose on top - would th...

Thanks for the reply. The heater blower works fine with the AC switch off, including the variable speed (I replaced the board for that one a while back). I had the centre console out to repair the OBC - after reinstall the AC blower no longer activated so am wondering if I dislodged something when r...

AC blower issue
Hi all - aware there are lots of related threads but can’t find the right one for my current issue. Both blowers and all variable speeds were working fine until last week at which point the AC fan stopped working. I can hear a clicking in the engine bay when the AC switch is pressed so assume it’s j...

Re: electric seat issue - one side only
Phew - delighted to report this was just one of the connectors under the seat not being plugged in firmly - I think consequently when moving the seat fully forward it stressed the cable just enough to break the connection. All good on the passenger side now - the recline motors make a lot more noise...

electric seat issue - one side only
Every time I think I take a step forward something else comes up. As per the parts wanted ad, I 'fixed' my headrests yesterday, or rather found the driver side is missing part of the gearbox (hence the ad), but fixed the passenger side by trimming the cable sheath back - after which everything seeme...

Electric headrest gearbox
Probably a long shot but having gone to do what I assumed to be the usual repair to the driver headrest, I discovered part of the gearbox is missing - the bit where the cable connects in which I think also has a cover on it; the main drive gears are still in place. Consequently the cable is spinning...

Happily seems I simply hadn’t pushed the OBC connector in far enough - fitted properly and all now working correctly. Just as well, am in no mood to take that console out again any time son!

Re: Speaker pods - how are the two parts connected?
For others’ benefit it does seem like they do simply screw together using just these two brackets - doesn’t hold the two sections together as rigidly as I’d expected though keeps them together and allows enough flex to get the bolts for the front section down through the back of the cockpit. Looks m...
