635 Cold Start valve

Hi All, Has anyone had any probs with this - I think mine may be passing fuel - I guess from a quick eyeball it's a real PITA to remove - any tips out there ?? It's a late 1982 E28 based car so it's pretty difficult to even see the damn thing. I've got the Bentley manual so I know all the test figur...

Hi Bruce, I know from costly experience that a 4-HP22-EH with a buggered control system will drive forward in 3rd only; Mine was down to electrical faults inside the gearbox - I presume that it will do the same with no control system. All the other positions (P,R,N) should work as they're obviously ...

I think a lot of that difference is the tappet setting on the M6 engine...I think it's a lot more labour intensive than the standard 635,,,and you have to have the sets of shims around........

M635 Chain Tensioner Piston

Hi All,

Does anyone know the details regarding the upgrading of the standard M635 Chain Tensioner Piston-Spring-Thing to a later (E36 ???) type which is apparently better / stronger / double-acting / lasts longer.....

Any help greatly appreciated :D

The speedo doesn't work, neither does the driver's door window. All the other windows and both mirrors work - typical that the most important window doesn't Six series windows are notorious for being sticky, especially after you've attempted to move them not knowing they're iced shut :( ; as well a...

Hi, I'm still pretty confused about what the offset is telling me; I have E34 (I think) 17" x-spokes on my 1985 M6 which are 9" wide and have a 26mm (IS26) offset. They fit and run perfectly well. I'm thinking of fitting some other wheels I've been offered but they are a 8" wide wheel...

Roof Bars

Has anyone got aftermarket Roof Bars for their 6. I can remember years ago that THULE used to do a set for a6 but it's no longer listed - I've tried THULE stockists but they're not very helpful - another BM site said that the fitting kit for a 1980's SAAB 900 (THULE kit 368 ??) should fit but I'd li...

As well as the obvious cost issue, they are also very different cars to own. The 635 with the 4 speed auto is an excellent cruising vehicle and is the car for poodling around in, but has a nice turn of speed when you want it. A manual 635 will fall somewhere in the middle between an M6 and an auto ...
