Re: Engine Details

Moe, this is one of the best write ups on the 'net for 745i information. Looks like a great build! Well done! Some details if possible. The original M102 engine was known for "light switch" performance because of it's low compression ratio and high boost. The M106 engine, in theory, cured...

I once managed to lock my keys inside the boot of my MX5, 660km away from home! #-o The car was open and the roof was down so I had no problem getting inside the car, but the luggage area is separate and impossible to access from the passenger area. The only way to open the trunklid is by using the ...

To answer this question: "I haven't drove the car on the road yet as I'm restoring it. Is the 3 speed auto really terrible?" No, it is not. I've had both 3-HP22 and 4-HP22-EH cars, with 3.07 diff ratios. 3-speed feels pretty much the same as the 4-speed EH auto, except 4-speed have an extr...

Is there more pictures of the E23 in this picture? I don't have any but you might be able to check the Southeast Sharkfest website. I also might be able post some of my e23 745i touring that is currently a rustbucket/project. I'd love to see some pictures of the 745i touring, they are some rare bea...

What I wrote in my last post are based on euro highcomp standards, btw. I found this heat range conversion chart on NGK's site: http://www.clubplug.net/images/heat_range_cross.jpg Edit: I had to get the picture from another site, NGK didn't like hotlinking.. But you will find the same or similar cha...

I've always used NGK, which are said to be better than Bosch. My experience is that NGK last longer than Bosch, and our engines are said to run "smoother" with those than with other brands. Here in scandinavia NGK's are very popular, especially in tuned or turbocharged applications. Other ...

I'm a huge fan of grey on these cars too, since I currently own a grey E23 myself. There is something about grey metallic and black leather interior combined with chrome exterial trim and darker details that I just love. I also have a polaris silver E23, which I'm thinking of respraying in a similar...

I also prefered zinnobarrot over hennarot before I bought my hennarot E24. Now I prefer hennarot, I think the orange look of it suits a classic car nicely. While zinno is a dark red color that looks pretty much the same under all light conditions, henna seems to "change" depending on light...

Why would anyone want to part out a perfectly good car..?
If the car is as good as it looks on the pictures I would consider it a easy project or it could even be used as is. I feel sad seeing cars like this end up in the junkyard instead of being taken care of.

Good old american "muscle cars" usually had some really narrow wheels.. E24's can with the correct ET swallow as much as 10" wide rims in the rear without stretching the tires, front can take up to 9" width. If you go any bigger than that you'd probably have to stretch the...

100% differential lock ain't optimal, even for a racecar..
Perhaps a drifting car would have some benefits, but not a racer.
