Re: Wiper Arm Guard Screw
My 84 633 has the airfoil dohicky on the wipers. They still lift off the glass at 100+ mph......not that I ever drive that fast, mind you.

Didn't some of the after-production modifier houses use a 6 digit VIN in place of the original BMW VIN? (Alpina, Dinan, etc.)

Re: 1970's Cars
Welcome to BigCoupe! The early E24s (70s to mid 1982) are substantially different from the later cars, and are somewhat harder to locate parts for, particularly body parts. If you have a choice between a non-runner with a rust-free body and a runner that has rusted out fenders and floorboards, get t...

The design of the differential. Older versions the ring gear is "loaded" through a side cover. Newer versions load through the rear like many diffs.

Your best bet is to message the seller through Facebook Marketplace. As he made clear in the posting he rarely checks messages here. Good luck.

Brian, is the crash the reason I now get a "verification" page interruption by Cloudflare before I can connect to BigCoupe.com? This is the only forum that causes the Cloudflare interruption on my machine (Android Samsung Galaxy S9+)

Pressure testing the system will tell if you have a leak or blown head gasket. I borrowed a pressure tester often enough that I ended up buying one. Very handy.

Re: Cooling System Woes -Bleeding What a Pita!
There were two types of thermostat housings, and one is shallower. I ran into this on my 84 633. The thermostat for the deeper housing won't fit the shallow housing if the O ring is in the right place, but may if it's on the "wrong" side of the recess. It's been years since I had the housi...

Re: Cooling System Woes -Bleeding What a Pita!
The heater should be on full heat while bleeding the system. The heater core can trap air.
If you think the 87 6er's cooling system is hard to bleed, try a 95 M3 S50B30.

Re: Carlex Design 635-CLX…
from what ive seen the comfort seats are way more desirable. I have them in my 633 and when i replaced them, plenty of people wanted to buy my old trashed ones to replace their sport seats. My buddies e30 sport seats are not very comfy at all. I can't disagree, because my 'bucket' doesn't fit their...

That sounds too close to me, closer than normal. Is the fan hub/clutch screwed all the way on the water pump? (Remember, it's left-hand thread).

Re: '87 Rear Cylinder Head Coolant Pipe 635csi
Here's the drawing of the cylinder head and the coolant pipe. I took a guess and said your car was a January 87 build. RealOEM.com is where I found the drawing. Looks like it's the same three bolt fitting as other E24s.

That's incredible, but aren't those the basic "comfort seat" profile, i.e. very little side bolsters?

Re: Front electric window
Adjusting E24 windows is like threading a sewing machine needle........with it running. Dumb, blind luck if you hit the ideal adjustment. Been there....
