Nice.
With the dogleg you will need to look at diff ratio. Otherwise you'll top out on the track. but, more than likely you have a nice tall diff.
Nice looking car. I've tracked mine and they are a hoot.

Pity but, you building your own means another 6'er get's looked after.
Go later model 635 if you can.

Re: 85 635 LS
I would not do it but am not against it. Did consider an LS3 swap at one time. In hindsight, it would have been cheaper. I would have loved to have seen the 4.4 litre BMW engine in a 6'er.
looking forward to the pics.

Re: January 2018 Catch up?
Thanks Elis. I'll give it a break for 6 months or so and then when re-charged, look at getting her running. Engine should be back in the car in a few weeks and although it has an idle tune and a decent race enduro build, should not be counted as a runner. It will need a proper dyno tune and that wil...

Re: January 2018 Catch up?
I might email Megasquirt in the new year and get their recommendations on the best forums to join. Don't want to even look at it for a few months though. Chasing this for nearly 6 years and getting nowhere fast has left me way way too drained. Thanks for the support though.

Re: January 2018 Catch up?
I'd love to find someone who knows their way around a Megasquirt PRO III. Engine build finished and has had an idle tune on the dyno. Cost me $1.5k to wire the engine with the Megasquirt loom and the Megasquirt is a similar cost. Now the dyno guy has told the engine builder he does not like Megasqui...

Re: January 2018 Catch up?
As much s I'd love too, people have let me down big time on my 6'er. Engine not dyno'd and tuned. It's built but simply not tuned. Idles okay. I'm placing it back in the car un-tuned and will rest it up a while. Honestly not having to call the engine builder 3 times a week and listen to excuses (for...

Re: 1983 Gp. A (E24-RA1-08)
if you go to racecarsdirect.com and search for BMW there is always a 635 Group A, or two, for sale. They do command top dollar. Some like Jim Richards Group A JPS car have been converted back to Group C to be more competitive. They run an extra 100hp in Group C. Over here (Australia) historic racing...

Re: Updating an M635csi Track Car to a Race Car
I need to do this for my E3 race car.
Can you post more pics, or pm me further details.
Current twin wipers on the E3 are 90% useless and 10% hopeless.

Re: JPS 633csi Special Order - Can anyone verify?
Mamod17 a good M30B35 will set you back $500 to $1250. Engine woes are the least expensive item. A really good body and clean interior is worth more. I have found from personal experience that heads warp when overheated. Could be that post a previous overheat, the head lifted either end. My S38B38 h...

You could also try Addam from Bavarian Classics and Restorations. He's done a few Alpina's and seems to know his stuff very very well.

Re: JPS 633csi Special Order - Can anyone verify?
Still represents good value if you can knock a little off of the $20k. Once you drive it or get a ride in it you'll feel if it is a solid car.
Personally, I like the tribute theme.

Re: JPS 633csi Special Order - Can anyone verify?
Where is it located? Addam is the best litmus test for price. $20k seems to be a good middle price for a low-ish mileage 635 but I bought at the bottom of the market so am probably not the best to help you with price. If it is in Sydney I could take a look for you as could a few others. Let us know ...

No idea re the seats and yes, it looks like a tastily modified car. Love that little dash speaker to the lower right of the steering wheel. Post some more pics and let us know what he is after. If you want a 6'er and the price is right, this looks like a decent buy. Check the gauge cluster to see if...

Re: JPS 633csi Special Order - Can anyone verify?
I've run the VIN through additional decoders. All but one cannot handle the VIN. This website https://www.etkbmw.com/bmw/EN/vin/decoder/4391277/EN Says; Manufact : 02. 1982 Steering : R Gearbox : A So the engine could be okay. But looks like the gearbox may have been changed. Again, absolutely every...

Re: JPS 633csi Special Order - Can anyone verify?
On a VIN decoder I favour, that VIN number comes up as an E9. https://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi The seats look period correct but, given the amount of work that has gone into the car as a tribute car, no doubt the seats are an add on. There are a few more VIN decoders that work well. When I...

Re: JPS 633csi Special Order - Can anyone verify?
I think Daz summed that up very well. I am often in contact with Pip Barker, the JPS engine builder, as he built me a race engine. I'll mention it to him next time we chat. Jim would know however and if he said no 6'ers were ever used, then none were. Addam also knows his stuff inside out. Go have a...

Vint, I can get them for you if you want. Although the CatCam 314 grind is said to be an almost direct replacement for the Group A and single valve Group C cam. Re: Updating an M635csi Track Car to a Race Car
Vintage, I had my M30 race engine built by Pip Barker from the JPS racing team. He guarantees 330hp with the stock M30B34. No internal dimensional changes permitted, stock Group A only. Mine is taken to 3.6 litres, has Group C pistons, S14 Rods, a B35 head all ported and with combustion chamber work...

Ericono you have Gaz wrong. Gaz goes for speed. He lives the fast life of loose women and martini's. He's Melbourne's James Bond but too polite to boast about it. All his cars, when finished, far out perform the stock version. I'm positive he will not stop with his M6 until he has 350hp plus and sub...
