Re: M635 Diff mount

Rob, ill take a photo of all 3 side by side later this week once the new one arrives (new one is part number 33171130900). The photos i stuck on above show the difference in the mount shape, the M635 is a lot more substantial than the one recommended for M535i which is part number 33171129784. Key d...

Re: Need to buy a battery. Opinions?

Well the wonder that is 'ProBat' worked at least once.. started like a dream today.

For £45 cant go too far wrong, about half the price of a proper brand at the local car shop or Halfords.

Brucey, i am sure you will love yours too - the future is Probat.

Re: M635 Diff mount

Ron nailed it. Back in from the garden, chased inside by the rain / sleet in need of a cup of tea and warmth. The M635CSI differential mount is different than the mount for M535 / 635.. so if anyone is thinking of buying a £42 instead of a £226 mount for their M635 then dont  The mount that ma...

Re: Need to buy a battery. Opinions?

Just broken a habit of a lifetime and bought the cheapest battery in the world, £45 delivered to the door. Previousely have always stuck to Bosch or Varta and for the BMW its been Bosch 100amp hour ones up to now. However they have not lasted beyond a couple of years (not been used enough) so I can ...

So a nice lady called Sam emailed back: " We are hosting 2 shows this year; • Duxford Spring Car Show – Sunday 30 April 2017 • Duxford MotorFest – Sunday 27 August 2017 If you are coming along with less than 10 vehicles, we have an Individual area and there is no need to book, just pay on the d...

Re: Duxford Spring Car Show - 30th April 2017

So to go we need to register for BMWCC for around £45, then entry to Duxford too? Wouldnt be a cheap day out but am tempted, the girlfriend didn't look too dismayed at the prospect either. Photo of the SR71 that you can touch 8) but then get told off for doing so: SR71.jpg And here we all are parked...

Would be up for going if a few others are, be good to say hello and put faces to names. Car is all road worthy now so I'll check with lady regarding the day and if all good can stick name down. Re: M635 Engine Oil - latest thinking on best?

The M does smoke a little at throttle off slowdown over 5k revs but its all part of the fun. It has had valve guides replaced and is not noticable unless being really picky. Would be slightly cautious of the Moly for this reason though. Ended up getting the Penrite HPR15 from this place, http://www....

Would agree with you, keep her indoors for the next couple of months. They seem to be spraying especially toxic stuff on the roads at the moment - even for blighty. Took the daily out yesterday and after a little trip on the motorways it seems to be covered in some kind of treacle / salt / goop subs...

Re: M635 Engine Oil - latest thinking on best?

Thank you for all advice - sometimes it helps to ask as too much research can stop me dead in tracks :D Gaz, i like the look of the Penrite and there is a supplier over here in the UK (only 15 miles away) so i think ill grab some of this. Price is £30.95 for 5l, or £112 for 4x5litres so while not ch...

M635 Engine Oil - latest thinking on best?

Been searching and reading in the hope of finding the definitive answer, whats the best oil for the M88 engine? Seems to be a number of views but apart from Shell Rotella no real concensus. Rotella not available in Blighty easily from what i can see. Going to do an oil change early new year and was ...

Re: M635 Diff mount

So have the part number as 33171129786 - eBay sells a generic mount (Meyle) for about £32 but the only proper OEM part with that number as far (as i can tell) is available across the pond. Will call the Stealer tomorrow and see if they can get the right part number.. failing that anyone know where t...

Nicely done Ron, that will keep you busy for the New Year. My day today was perfect - finally went and picked up my car after many months in the workshop. If you could get at $600 then they are a bargain i would say. Lovely wheels.

In UK a decent set and some cheap rubber goes for maybe £600-800.

This is excellent information!! I just bought a load of green clips for the reason you describe and knowing the hole size to drill is great.

Thank you :)

Hopefully i can get both skirts back on and will look into proper tape rather than generic.

Re: Do the 1979 633csi need upper cylinder lube?

Not sure if its a good thing, I have generally always used Valvemaster+ in the '84 M635csi.. figure better safe than sorry.

It does smoke a little if i lift off at high revs so suspect valve guides a little worn but no big stress (makes me smile, i know its immature but hey!)
