I ordered them through Tirerack and had them delivered to a local tire shop. Made things super simple. Not many street tires in that size anymore, so I'm happy to have a (so far) good experience with them. More miles will tell, but I'm a fan so far [-o<

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Lots of stuff over the weekend! First up was replacing the Pitman arm bushings that were nothing more than metal dogbones at this point. Probably original to the car, there was no bushing material left. You could shake and twist them around however you wanted with the car on the ground  How i...

Re: Lowering advice please

To adjust height, I decided to re-position the lever arm that clamps on to the anti-roll bar. By rotating it forward or backward, you effectively "trick" the control module into thinking the ride height is higher/lower than it needs to be, and will adjust the fluid pressure to achieve the ...

Re: Lowering advice please

Thanks Onthefritz. I may look into your option. So it dropped the front and then you adjusted the rear to match? Did you upgrade front strut inserts to make up for the slightly ‘softer’ e30 spring? That's basically how it happened. At the time, I was experimenting with the rear ride height trying t...

Thanks! Of course I know every single blemish on every square mm, but even I'm in shock sometimes that the car is as clean as it is for its age. It cleans up well, for sure. At least the previous owners did something right

Car looks great, I'm sure it fells great driving it again. My car is in for a respray, I hope to get it back by mid October. You decision on gold pin strips looks great. Question, what bulbs are you running in the projection head lights? How well lit is night driving? Roger Thank you! I wasn't quit...

I'm back!! https://i.imgur.com/y7J9nHe.jpg All fixed up, in even better shape than it was before! Got the car back Wednesday night, and had to wait until the weekend to give it a good wash and super thorough wax. The paint match is amazing between the 30 year old paint and fresh stuff; the old paint...

Re: Tell us what type of motor oil you prefer?

I guess there's always some oil hiding away somewhere or something.. #-o You might wanna look into removing and manually flushing your engine oil cooler behind the front bumper. It sounds like it's completely clogged with 20 y.o. oil that is slowly turing into coal. Oil cooler? I thought that was m...

Re: Tell us what type of motor oil you prefer?

Fritz, if you're only putting 5 quarts in, better check your dipstick, as mine takes 6.25 quarts, per the manuals and dipstick [-X I remember reading that and buying 6 quarts the first time I did an oil change on it. I started pouring oil in until it rose up to smack dab in the middle of the dipsti...

Re: Tell us what type of motor oil you prefer?

I use Valvoline VR1 20w-50, even with my cat still in place. I hardly burn oil, so I don't think it's going to be an issue for a while. I also put in a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer as added protection against cold starts, especially in winter. Temperatures swing massively between summer and winter ...

Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking

The last time they would've been lubed would be when the disks and pads were replaced last October, but I don't remember if they were lubed or not. They at least weren't wiggling around when I checked them last, but that might have changed since. What kind of grease is best to use there?

Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking

Waud, No need to worry, these are just the regular 15in OE wheels for the E24. I’ve double and triple checked my pig bolts being tight, tire pressures, etc. I get more symptoms through the brakes (e.g. a pulsing squeak while driving, speeds up/slows down with speed, changes while cornering/going ove...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Definitely go gold stripes on that colour scheme you've got going on there. Or better yet go the full house John Player Special Gold Leaf racing colour scheme! Believe me, that JPS livery is definitely an inspiration! I'm definitely leaning toward gold though, I think it'll add that extra "pop...

Still I love to throw my girl into sport mode, damn she eats the highway up like it's nothing. I think it's funny when people assume oh that old BMW has no power. Then the "S" puts em to the rear view mirror. I must say though since running the Chevron 94 octane(zero ethanol) Sonja is run...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

I can hardly begin to describe how common this ridiculous behavior is. Among my family and friends, we have nicknamed this phenomenon the "Tulsa turn" with how often it happens where I live. Basically, imagine someone driving on a multi-lane road. Say they're in the far left lane (or far r...

Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking

My problem has actually somewhat subsided and my symptoms have narrowed down. My bushings are all still good, but now I have a slight grinding/chirping sound coming from the front brakes like they're not fully disengaging (indicitive of a dying master cylinder). I haven't been driving as much over t...

Ireland Engineering coolant hoses

Have an odd conundrum. My lower radiator hose started leaking a little while ago, enough to take the car off the road until I could fix it. Adjusted my valves! Process was super easy, took less than 2 hours from taking the cover off to putting it on and starting the car. Re: Lowering advice please

I recently installed OE blue-stripe springs from an E30 (PN 31 33 1 127 503) in the front and lowered it by about 1-1.25in. They were the same size overall (height and diameter) but the coils were marginally thinner. Same number of turns. I also opted to retain the SLS since we somewhat recently got...

Sprayed the tail light housings a nice silver finally! I'd say the result speaks for itsel...

Re: E30 Hella Smileys in the E24

I am wondering if I can mount LED-filaments in the E30 smiley lights, this would imply shaping the outside of the lamp to fit into the shroud and maybe the glass would need to come off and be replaced with new. FWIW, granted I have ellipsoids, but I installed LED bulbs a while ago and didn't have t...
