Re: Poor old '81 635... can we rebuild her???
Well done, I snapped the end off the plastic trim when I did it...and that part is obsolete!

Re: Salvage Hunters Classic Cars
Yes I saw the car on eBay (I think) a few months ago - something about filming - was a bit expensive I thought. Good program though, nice filming and very positive about the car - can only be good for us owners! Wish I had a bright red 1983 635...

Re: 1980's BMW Dealerships in the UK
Thanks for the reply. The registration is FVW ###Y- VW is Chelmsford from 1974 onwards. If a dealer sold the car they would register it to the dealer location? Back in 82 did people other than approved dealers sell new BMW's?

1980's BMW Dealerships in the UK
According to the number plate on my 1982 635 my car was first registered in Chelmsford. The dealership there now is Cooper but who would it have been in 1982? Thanks!

Re: Under dash wiring identification
Well I sorted out my various wires. The red and purple wires were back to front on the fog light switch - faded colours mislead me. The fogs have independent supplies under the headlights so the E23 loom I added which splits one supply wasn't helpful. There are no headlight lamps on the cluster - on...

Re: Electric window removal.
The motor is held on with x3 bolts. I did this last week - as I remember you have to remove the glass - free the regulator and then I think it exposes the additional bolt when you move it into the right position. Be careful as the regulator is spring loaded.

Re: Under dash wiring identification
Thanks for the reply - no didn't get caught out by that one! As far as I can tell the Grey wire on the fog light switch should be getting 12v from the light switch when turned on - it's only getting 0.4v... The Red and White wire is getting 12v constantly but I'm sure this should be 0 until you swit...

Re: Bringing a Belgian 635 CSi 1984 back on the road
Really nice work - well done - good photos! I'm just doing my headliner too - found some VW material which is pretty close in colour and pattern to the original BMW stuff. I did the sunroof panel but I'm getting a pro to do the main bit...maybe I will help them like you do. Headlining.jpg Sunroof-Ma...

Re: Under dash wiring identification
Thanks for the reply Baders - it's a late 82 model - series 2. I think that two of the 'C' wires are speaker wires.

Under dash wiring identification
I'm trying to get my fog lights working and suspect the problem is under the dash. Can anyone help me identify these loose wires? A coupe of questions; Does the fog light switch appear to be wired correctly - hard to tell the faded sticker colours? Is 'A' fog light related? Why does the cabin temp s...

Re: Poor old '81 635... can we rebuild her???
Good work, the leather's cleaning up well. I replaced my carpet as it was badly holed around the footwell...and was disgusting. You can get a brand new replacement for yours for £150 here; https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/floor-covering-lotosweiss-for-635-csi-m635-csi-only-rhd-models-from-06-1987-up-...

Re: Poor old '81 635... can we rebuild her???
Ha ha yes - I got a new fuel cap from BMW - not all parts are expensive. The part labelled B in red in the photo is only about £20 - I have a spare. I order a lot of my stuff from https://www.wallothnesch.com/ , generally they are slightly cheaper than BMW as they do deals - also it's like Christmas...

I do have a thing for the E12's - I like the rear bumper design. Also love the original decals - very cool!

Re: Poor old '81 635... can we rebuild her???
I had to redo most of the drivers sill on mine and rear suspension mount - quite a bit of work and very common repair - I reckon most have gone in these areas. It was quite a nice feeling of satisfaction once it was done though!

Re: Poor old '81 635... can we rebuild her???
It'd be a shame to break her. If the sills are solid that would both amazing and avoid a large amount of work. Doors and wings are easy to replace - obviously wings aren't cheap but there those here on the forum who can help. Rear arch repairs are pretty common... I guess parts are more scarce for e...

I'm after a few parts;
1. Roof gutter trim joint covers x2.
2. Headlight wiper plug - the opposite connector to the one shown (part of the car loom).
3. Right chrome / plastic sill strip.

Good work - the kidney grills have become super expensive to replace.
