Again, like in your for sale thread, your picture is upside down, making it appear the car is clinging to the ceiling of the shop. You see it right-side up???

The UTQG-100 reference was to ultra-sticky racing tires, a possible explanation of how the car is clinging to the ceiling.

Dual stage, or dual springs? I know they had double springs. I've never heard of dual stage springs. Both springs are in full contact with the retainer and spring seat at all times.

Here's the "011", the last three digits of the Bosch Motronic part number. The last three digits of all the Motronic units are the mechanic's shorthand way of referring to them.

I emailed the seller through eBay, and asked how you tipped the seats forward. Here's his reply:

"Hi,

Levers to release the seat backs are there. There are the original seats to BMW E24 we just haven't put then on when taking pictures.

I'll betcha he's posting from an iPhone. Every time my brother sent me a picture from his iPhone 5, the darn things were upside down (never had that problem with his 4). He finally figured out how to configure the phone so it sent right side up.

Chilton and haynes are OK, but the Bentley E28 manual is the one you really need. The post-mid '82 E24s are based on the E28 chassis and share engine packages and suspensions.

If the starter continues to spin after the engine starts, it's the solenoid itself that's sticking, because the power to spin the starter (electrical connection) goes through a set of contacts IN the solenoid. You can take the starter out (oh, joy!) and disassemble the solenoid, then lube it, the li...

There's an E28 in Barry's U-Pull-It in Theodore (Mobile), AL. Next time I'm there I'll see if there's a usable ashtray in it. I hope it hasn't been crushed. It's been sitting there for months, an unusual length of time for most cars that end up there.

Good news...and bad news. Will Euro lenses fit on US bases, as in three screws and it's on? Nope. The internal reflector of the US base interferes (hits) the back of the lens, keeping it from even getting close to seating on the gasket. HOWEVER, the US base can be modified by cutting back the curved...

It's sort of odd that your speedometer registers slower than actual speed. BMW speedometers are always "optimistic" in my experience, showing a few MPH/KPH higher than actual speed. The tampering that was done to the odometer could have involved replacing the drive gear set. If the wrong s...
