Does anyone know how to R&R the exterior door handle?

My 84 M635 has a busted drivers side handle. I bought a new one after failing an attempt to remove one from a junk yard car. Can anyone give insight to how?

Thanks

Nice, I have an 85 M635csi siting side by side to my 88 Euro 560SEC. In front if it is an 84 Euro 500SL with a Jaguar XJS V12 convertible next to it.

If it was the 80's, I'd be high rollin :)

Yep, that was kind of neat. SA had some pretty interesting cars for their home market and many companies manufactured there including Mercedes and Jaguar.

Crawl under the car and take a look at the flex discs. I've had one fail and rip the back of the transmission clean off. Quick way to turn a nice car into a parts car.

The master cylinder is going out as it's letting brake fluid push past the seals. Get it replaced and if your fluid is black, bleed the brakes. A pressure bleeder makes short work of this.

My understanding is that with a parallel flow condenser R12 does not add much compared to R134, and may even be less effecient. WIth the original style condenser then R12 is alot more advantageous, but not so much with the parallel design. I don't think a parallel flow condenser will be less effici...

There is no such thing as a rusty looking car that's better then you expected. It's always worse. You can usually fix what you can see, but you can't really fix it unless you strip the car down tot he shell, cut the floors off and send the rest for sand blasting. If it's appealing, find another body...

Yep, two parts cars, two new fuel tanks, new hoses made, 4 computers, 2 map sensors, a trigger board, wiring harness from scratch and endless chasing of grounds. In the end, I have a running v12 and the guy who helped me never wants to see me again. Back to the six, If you have a good vacuum pump, t...

The green coolant is fine provided that you don't leave it in there for more then a couple of years. The newer blue, red, yellow coolants that are specified by the manufactures are long life coolants that align to the long service intervals that manufacturers offer. If you prefer to use the long lif...

You should try evacuating and flushing your system. Then replacing the dryer and bolting it back up before charging with R12. When a system gets this oil, it leaks, and the moisture mixes with the oil to form a thick goop. I"ve flushed condensers in the past where I pumped compressed air for q...

If your system is leak free and working correctly, stick with R12 and it should be able to cope pretty well with the heat. R12 can still be bought and prices are coming down.

BMW (the company, not the car) is wearing me out. Not only are the prices silly high for parts on my M6, but they also seem to like to refuse access to owners of Euro models. It's like extracting teeth. The majority of my cars are Mercedes Benz and the majority of those being euros, including a Euro...

Yep, I've never got into a rusty car and said to myself. "Hmm, It's a lot better then I thought it was".

Still, that's a really good looking car. It would be a shame to dismantle it.

Generally, electric fans are operated by a temp switch on the engine that kicks in at around 100C or by the pressure switch on the a/c. If you can find the temp switch on the engine, try unplugging it and grounding the connection to see if the fan engages.
