Re: WTB: Sunvisor pivot - the one with the electrical contact

They're not grossly different, just leather on the new ones, vinyl on the Iold ones. I got this color, and I'm going to dye them black with SEM products. The mirror pops out easily. I'll post some pics when i'm finished. I'm just using some LEDs I have from other projects. https://photos.smugmug.com...

Re: WTB: Sunvisor pivot - the one with the electrical contact

What happened? There was a reply here from someone who recommended getting the part from a 7-series, which was around $3 from the dealer. I was on my way out the door and didn't have time to reply, but I'll definitely check out the recommended part, and I offer thanks to who ever it was. realoem sho...

Re: WTB: Sunvisor pivot - the one with the electrical contact

Never had one. My car is an '85, and the lighted vinyl visor was wired differently, but I have a newer set of leather visors I'd like to install. I'm also upgrading the lighting in the visor, with 3 LEDs on either side of the mirror, so the lighting will be white and bright.

FOUND: Sunvisor pivot - the one with the electrical contact

As the subject says, anyone have one? It goes on the inner side of the right lighted sunvisor. Any color is fine. Thanks.

EDIT: BMW of South Atlanta has one ($9), and will ship it Monday. Not sure if it's tan or gray, but i can easily spray it black.

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!

Removing the oil pan is how you drain the transmission fluid. Once the pan is off, you replace the filter csreen, put the pan back on, and add new fluid. It's a messy job, because as you loosen the bolts on the pan the fluid begins to pour out, but it's a simple job, and I don't know what your mecha...

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!

It's been several decades since I worked on a '85 535i auto trans, but I don't remember those complications in changing the transmission fluid. I did a full service for a friend, and I just recall dropping the pan, as on any other car. Since the E28 and E24 are so similar, you may want to get a seco...

I've heard they're available at the same price, if you contact the seller.

Re: Polishing Hella glass fog lights

Daniel Tern has instructions for making yellow fogs using transparent yellow spray paint, but I think the film is both easier to apply and more durable. I'd like to think it offers some protection, which is why I filmed the brand new headlights, but the stuff I used is not nearly as thick as the 3M,...

There's an '85 635 (Canada version) on eBay with a supposed 20K miles. Guy wants $39K, including the poseur M badges and body-colored bumpers. Good luck with that one.

Re: FOUND: Interior Upper Valance

You can have both of mine for the cost of shipping. They're black vinyl, and in good, but not perfect condition. Non-illuminated, and the mirror is cloudy. PM me your shipping address if interested, and I'll ship them after my others arrive.

If the pump is bad, you can easily adapt one of these pumps from NAPA (which is also a direct-fit to the intensive reservoir), and costs ~$15. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-n6jDJZt/0/88595309/L/i-n6jDJZt-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-QDCXLtC/0/c0a2bdc9/L/i-QDCXLtC-L.jpg https://pho...

FEELER FS: Beautiful Italian Wood Steering Wheel

Hi Group: Thinking about changing up my E24 interior a bit, so I may want to sell my Viktor steering wheel. It's in excellent, but not quite brand new shape, and it comes with the BMW horn button and coarse-spline collapsible safety hub. Will fit BMW E12 (1974-1981), E21 (1977-1982), E23 (1976-1984)...

There's one on eBay right now for $45 + $20 shipping. Not mine, but that seems like a steal. Also, it's black, but you can easily re-dye it with one of the SEM products.

Nice work. I had no idea you could sand and polish glass. Mine were also quite pitted, but I took the easy route and covered them with vinyl film, which also allowed me to change the color to yellow: https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-JbS2Wgs/0/cce7e3ec/L/i-JbS2Wgs-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/...

True - I've done some small parts in mine, and for most powers 450F does the trick. I have one of those Eastwood starter kits that works pretty well.

I may have an extra one, but I need to find it I just had some major surgery on my foot, and I don't have much mobility, but in the next few days if I can walk a bit, I'll look for it. I'd be happy to sell it for cost + shipping.

I think this is the one I used, p/n 61311373974, and I found it on eBay for ~$20. New, they're $100+ from BMW.
