Re: Spax lowering kit
Hi, I am still in process of suspension rebuild; it is taking longer than expected since I am trying to clean and repaint most of the components.... I am also using Meyle HD rear sub frame mount bushing but fill them with liquid Polyurethane, 80 hardness before installing. I also wanted to do the sa...

Re: Spax lowering kit
OK, thanks, so will go ahead and trim the top of the bump stops by one groove (this makes it about 35mm shorter, so should match Spax sprigs). To hold them on the top of the strut insert rod probably my best bet will be just a very small amount of gorilla glue, since the narrower part of the bump st...

Re: Spax lowering kit
Hi, thanks for the feedback; got all front components off and am going to re-fresh (clean and paint) the strut housings while they are off the car. I am still wondering about the oil and if I should use it or not; in my Bentley E28 manual stands : "if using gas filled strut inserts do NOT use t...

Re: Spax lowering kit
My Spax kit arrived; looks like a really nice quality, adjustable shocks front and rear. Hoping to install over the weekend, but just wondering about two points, if someone could help: 1) I got new bump stops; the kit does not include the bump stops with it. Should I use the OEM once and should I us...

Re: Current speakers for factory locations
Sorry to bring this back up, but did someone recently find any 4x6 speakers that mount in rear pods and magnets do not interfere when closing? I just tried mounting pioneer's 4x6 and was able to get them to work in the front with some spacers under stock grills, but in the old style rear pods the sp...

Re: UK 628CSiA dismantling soon
Hi, is it E28 based car?
Looking for a pair of front struts; to be used as cores to ship to Gaz and get converted to coil-overs.
As long as they are fitting '85 car (with ABS sensors) and not too rusty I would be interested.
No shocks or springs, just struts, shipped to Gaz in UK.

Re: central locking
So in the end it was a weak actuator in the passenger door; would try closing bur had no power to close, just some whining noise; opening was fine. Since I had a driver door actuator and no passenger door in my parts bin I installed the driver side actuator instead. Accept different part number and ...

Re: Speaker grounds
Thanks, in the end I just pulled new rear speakers wires and used the existing grounds for front speakers, so all good now. I did find it really difficult to get rear speakers to fit the old style speaker pods; seems all modern 6x4 speakers got much larger magnets then original speakers, so the pod ...

Just installing new head unit and wiring the connection to the speakers. As new unit does not tolerate common grounds for front and rear speakers will have to separate those. Instead of puling new complete speaker wire I would like to find where are front and rear speaker grounds actually tied toget...

Re: Spax lowering kit
Hi, it is '85 car, so yes, 28 based. I already ordered the Spax lowering kit that includes springs and shocks, but am still looking for a swaybar setup. Based on reading some posts on this forum, seems that preferred setup is 22mm front (ST makes this) combined with 18mm rear (from E28 M5). Other op...

Re: Spax lowering kit
Thanks for the tip, I actually did this first and although there come number of post there is no report from someone that has the whole kit (springs and shocks)' Much more useful info I did find on E28 forum with lots of very positive posts, but I am not sure if E28 setup would translate directly to...

Re: Spax lowering kit
So, seems not many have this kit installed; I think I will go ahead and post back the report....but it will take some months before they will be on the car. Thinking to pair them with IE sway bar kit https://www.iemotorsport.com/product/sway-bar-kit-25mm-front-19mm-rear-e24-e28/ And their fixed uppe...

Spax lowering kit
Hi, is there someone with experience on Spax lowering kit https://www.demon-tweeks.com/us/spax-psx-adjustable-damping-suspension-kit-spxtap099/ It is much better priced than typical B9/HnR kit; about $300 less including shipping and it offers adjustable damper. I seen many very favorable reviews on ...

Re: central locking
Sorry to report, it is actually not really solved. I thought it was slight misalignment on driver door locking switch after replacing the broken lock, but I was wrong; must have been just by chance when I was moving that switch a bit that it did lock few times. Back to the symptoms, this time with f...

Front struts in UK
Hi, looking for a pair of E28 based car front struts (no inserts needed).
I am going to get Gaz to make a set of coil-overs and need to ship this to them as a donors.
This would need to be located in UK in order to save on shipping cost to Gaz; any condition should be fine if not bent or rusty.

Hey, this really looks great; I actually prefer the look to World bumpers!
On the photos all the rubber trims look like new; did you replace them all or you got any tricks to share how to restore the old rubber?
Mine are all faded/gray/hard; not very nice

Re: Metric TRX wheel conversion to 17"
Hi, I believe you can use the Style5 barrels and hardware; did a quck check and it seems TRX could be machined to same outside dimensions as Style5 8x17 centers; also looked like offset would be correct.
I think this is what others have used as well.

Front window guide
I just discovered that my front window guides are pretty rusted; must be due to the foam behind the mirrors holding up water. I tried to remove them in order to replace or clean/repaint, but not sure about correct procedure. There are two bolts on top, self understanding. Third one is the adjustment...

Hi, I know this is very old thread but I got exact problem described where the slotted end of the driver lock cylinder broke off. Re: suspension options
Is this something that does create a problem and, if so, any way to avoid? As well, how does H&R lowering kit influence the wheel camber? Coil over kits offer adjustable camber plates so his can be dialed but wondering if 1.5 inch lowering results in excessive camber or it is still in acceptable...
