Re: lots of parts for sale from 85 Euro
I might be interested in the block and head. Hi comp or low comp? Don't really need the accessories, but would take the AFM and air filter box. Perhaps even the exhaust. Would be nice to have for my euro 635 project car. Any compression and leak-down #s on motor? Asking price for these? Thanks, Mik...

I recently saw a highly modified XK 129 jag. The A/C was an electric compressor in the fender well with a small condenser An interesting thought for you to possibly simplify one of the systems Thanks bpoliakoff, I plan to use an electric compressor for the A/C. Re: Fuel tank expansion tank
Hi Drew, I just removed my tank from an '85 635. It does have 3 lines coming out of it like you thought. tank 3 lines.PNG I don't know if this goes to it or not, but I did find a plastic box with 3 lines when the parts were removed. Maybe that is what you are talking about? If so, I have them both f...

This is quite interesting and I admire your courage and technical knowledge. However, couple of questions: - Do I understand correctly, you are converting from 160 KW - 310 off Nm, to 85 and 220. What's the overall power to weight ratio conversion by comparison - What considerations around battery ...

Re: Electrifying my '85 635CSi Euro
Today was a big day in moving my project forward. As it is with most of us working from home now, I have more time to work on the 635 EV conversion. Although I have loved driving it these past few months, I've acquired all of the electrical components and am ready to start the physical conversion. A...

Hey Eric, I just cleaned up my ‘87 635csi this weekend as I need to move it soon. I just uploaded the photos and videos here… https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3w4tgawi2c5ip2o/AAA_lGrx7FzEA2MPOHxEquTUa?dl=0 Take a look at it. A few small projects but runs every day. Re: Electrifying my '85 635CSi Euro
Does anyone know what items require vacuum from the engine? In most cars, vacuum helps with brakes, but since the E24 uses the power steering fluid in combination with the brake bomb for assist, it seems that vacuum may only be needed for engine specific items (which I won't need after the conversio...

Re: Electrifying my '85 635CSi Euro
Wow, that some serious stuff. Did I understand this correctly in that you'll be mating the electric motor to a manual 5 speed tranny? Almost all electric cars seem to be direct drive (a la Tesla) or come kinda CV, which I don't think exists for a e24. ;) This will be a very interesting thing to fol...

Re: Electrifying my '85 635CSi Euro
With any EV conversion, one must have three things. A good donor car, buckets of cash (or credit), and loads of patience. So far I have 2 out of 3. After weeks of planning, I’ve begun ordering the necessary components to convert my 1985 BMW 635CSi into an electric vehicle for commuting to work. So f...

One Ping Only
Today, on my way to work, I heard my car make a single electronic "ping" sound. No warning lights were on, nor any limit settings on the computer. It almost sounded like a warning for an unbuckled seatbelt, except that both seat belts were fastened and that it only pinged once. This happen...

Weight distribution, side to side?
I measured the weight of my '85 Euro 635Csi unofficially at a rock & dirt truck scale (with me in it).
3470 lbs total
1980 front (57%)
1490 rear (43%)
Has anyone ever put their E24 on 4 wheel independent scales to capture the weight balance between the left and right side?

Indeed it is, I never had to replace the brake pads (front or rear) on my 2009 Prius even after 180k miles!Quietlion79 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 4:35 pm Regenerative braking is the isht.
