Re: M635 smog repair

Maybe give Griffin Motorwerks in Berkeley a call and ask them if they have any ideas for your smog.

Re: 25 years today

Wow! That's a beautiful car. Almost 300k? You've been a supreme caretaker. Thanks, I try to keep the original paint as nice as I can (one of these days, will take care of the rock chips), it's mostly under a cover in the garage. I think I have around 292k currently, it will be cool to see the odome...

Re: 25 years today

Bobbo,

I was set and close to buying a 1989 325is but then drove home with an e24. No regrets what so ever.
Ha, yes the 3 spoke wheels were 16 inch Anterra's (PO put those on). It was such a pain to get the center's off but glad I went with the 17 inch BBS RX's.

Thanks

25 years today

25 years ago today I almost bought a e30 but the salesman showed me an e24. Took it for a test drive and needless to say I became the second owner (57k miles) of a 1989 635. It was my daily driver for years until retired for weekends and occasional driving in 2013 with 290k miles (original motor and...

Re: Fog Lights - has anyone upgraded those?

Finally got around to taking a picture at night with the new fog light bulbs. Matches the head lights (hid) pretty well.

I kept my original BMW cassette player, amp and speakers enough though I highly doubt they will be reinstalled.

Re: Current speakers for factory locations

Hey Klaus, There are a lot of posts regarding stereos. See the link below, I think that may be the most recent one. You could have listen to mine at PSF to get a sense of what you’d like to do. Since you've got a nice head unit, my recommendation would be to upgrade the speakers (kick panel 4x6, doo...

Re: Fog Lights - has anyone upgraded those?

My first choice was an LED bulb. I ordered one and was excited to try it but then the housing on the LED bulb was too big and did not fit in the H1 Fog light housing. I supposed I could have used a Dremel to modify the H1 housing but decided not to. Never know, in the future I may if I have a spare ...

Re: Fog Lights - has anyone upgraded those?

Actually I did not add a relay, the housing on my 89 are H1. I ran those for probably over 20 years and they've done well but I guess over time they lose their brightness. I don't drive in much fog but I wanted a whiter light so I think I finally found some. The Osram H1 55W cool blue, sticker notes...

Re: Glovebox Flashlight

Krazy glue or something similar is a very strong bond but if you need to replace the battery in a few years, it will be hard to pry it open without damaging the plastic.

You can always have your E24 looked over before your trip. A few of us (Bobbo) in the Bay Area drove to Las Vegas back in the day. Long drive but it was a good time.

Re: suspension options

You should also think about getting an adjustable rear camber kit for the rear as well. Not sure who currently has them (ECS, Ireland engineering, etc) but you can do a google search. Good luck with your choice.

Fog Lights - has anyone upgraded those?

I've been using 100 w Osram bulbs for a long time but thinking about a whiter fog light bulb. Our bulb housing is small and rectangular so I don't think there are many options. The LED bulbs are round and too big to fit through.

Has anyone upgraded their bulbs to a whiter bulb?

TIA
Tommy

My .02 cents on the only 7 series part is the bushing. My shop has them shaved down to fit, I've been using them for years.

Re: M6 Radiator shop drawing

I agree with Jose. The OEM radiator works well, I've had mine for a number of years, when driving it only goes up 1/3 and usually in traffic the temp gauge goes to half. When I decided to get the Wizard Aluminum radiator, it was just piece of mind of not having the neck snap off as the OEM radiator ...
