Alex,
What are you going to replace these with in your car? Manual? Vaders?

Ray,
Did you get this problem solved? Would it run every time with the relay socket jumped?

Re: Cigarette Lighter

Dean, I don't mean to hijack, and it's still relevant to the original question anyway. But my ciggy lighter socket is flopping about in the console, and the whole thing will push through the hole. I don't see at a glance, a way for it to fasten into the hole. Any ideas? Btw, I wish mine was a euro. ...

Re: Cigarette Lighter

Dean, don't you have to start pulling screws at the rear AC console to get that out? Please say no... I've always had to start in the back and pull everything loose to the front just to get the gearshift console out. I'd love to know there's a better way.

Quickie bubba cupholder

Guys, I know the video is bad #-o but I got the cupholder done and then thought I should share. It's a quicky bubba cupholder and same category video. I've been suffering this shortcoming in an e24 for over 20yrs and the other day I said screw it I'm gonna make something I can use today. I do have a...

Re: Power Sport Seats, BMW or Recaro?

Hello everyone, can anybody tell me what I've got? Just bought an 87' highline. Seats have recaro label but I am not sure if these are originally from that car or have been added as upgrade - vin specifies sport seats only (maybe vin did not specified exact manufacturer?). At the center there is fu...

Is the shaking felt in your steering wheel? Does the steering wheel seem to shake slightly in a back and forth motion? (front control arms, common, easy fix)

Now....there are two reasons I didn't replace that hose when I was doing the others...the cheapest I can find it is $305 (apparently it is specific to M635/M6/M5) and visually it looks fine while the other two pressure lines had visible cracking. The only thing I haven't tried that I can find by re...

Re: Stumble Coming Off the Clutch Onto the Gas

Rob, I can't really help, but I have an '87 manual and an '89 auto and both have an issue similar to what I would describe as an accelerator pump prob with a carbureted car. A hesitation when you punch it. I suspect it's the same problem you're describing and seems to be common. May check the e28 et...

Re: Leather seat bottom is hard, and padding is flat....

I would like to see a "real" auto upholstery guy, like the custom guys on tv, carve out a better bottom foam for sport seats. Something with more pronounced side bolsters and a center with real support that doesn't feel like you're stretching the leather to it's limit when you sit on it. W...

Mamod, I'm really sorry to see you're still struggling with this problem, I figured you had it solved by now. Re: What do you think the best looking rims are for the shark?

Got these around '95 for my '87. Put them on the '88 now. TSW 7.5x 16 I think. Better with plastic hub rings. Never seen another set, prob a reason for that. I bought them when I was desperate for a set of wheels. They've grown on me over the years. https://c5.staticflickr.com/1/247/30716693444_b3f4...

Re: cooling system flush/thermostat replacement

Two long bolts, and two short ones (10mm I think) hold the thermostat cover on. The inboard long one gets corroded the most iirc, I clean them well with a wire wheel and coat them with never seize to re-install. Also clean the hose surface well with scrapers and a wire brush. I don't use a gasket se...

Re: Air conditionin function overview and retrofit/repair thread

Hi Toby,
Thanks for the input. What did you do for new seals in the airbox housing, order factory bits (are they available)? How did you connect the new hoses to the old hard lines? Or you made new rubber hoses complete? Your success is encouraging.

Re: M6 Leather Dash Restoration Advice

Did you watch the video linked in post #4? It's not clear if they can/do replace the foam on a bare metal frame, or if they just apply a layer over the remaining foam which has been ground down. The video seems to indicate the latter, which is a bit concerning, but I haven't yet heard of a JD dash ...

Dashboard restoration and leather.

I've been watching this guy for about a year now, he's an incredible artisan. Just wanted to share in case some of you were interested in what it takes to stitch and cover a dashboard. This VW dash is similar in complexity to the e24, it's a long video and there are 7 of them but this one illustrate...
