Re: Conversion to ellipsoid headlights
Thanks, was thinking of doing that but then I changed my mind. I would like to make it as it is on the late models.

Conversion to ellipsoid headlights
I am converting to ellipsoid headlights.
Now I noticed that the headlight hits a piece of metal frame.
Does anyone know how this is constructed in the later types (1988/1989) E24? There must be more space.

Check the filling nipples on your car, are they R134a, like on the photos, or R12?
Just Google the nipples and you will see the difference.

Re: BBS RC090 finish selection opinion
I would go for the all silver finish of the wheels, looks fantastic.
And the area around the license plate looks better in black in my opinion, but that is a matter of taste.

Re: Air through Air con
Well, we get cold air in our vents here as well in Holland, I think it related to the ambient winter temperatures :D . Just kidding, now serious, you aren't getting any heat correct? That the air conditioning is engaging and not working is most likely caused by insufficient amount of refrigerant. Is...

Re: Opinions on exterior mod that won't be "visible"
Good idea! Looks much better than the US blinkers the car was delivered with. I would assume you can make a cable yourself with a set of TE Connectivity positive lock connectors https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-1-926522-1.html I do not know the size you need, you could measure on you car and check ...

Re: Converting my 87 to world bumpers I need a lower air damn.
I did the same conversion, took me about a year to find all parts. I was lucky that I bought my US spec car with the new type valence, the previous owner must have exchanged it after the original got damaged. It is not on eBay very often, if I were you I would also check eBay in the UK on a regular ...

Re: Best exterior color to match a black interior
I contacted the company that sold the car at the time. They had the color code in their system.
490 Sonderlackierung Artic blue metallic
On this car from 1988 it is a Sonderlackierung (special color), because the color was actually only available from 02/1984 to 08/1986.

Re: My new 85 Shark
There is to my knowledge no Spartanburg in Germany. It must be SC as there is also a BMW plant in Spartanburg SC.
It also says USA in the VIN decoder, which I think is incorrect.

Re: My new 85 Shark
According to the VIN decoder my E24 was build in Spartanburg, USA as well. But to be honest I doubt that very much. The reason for this is that the Laufzettel (production print out) which can be found under the back seats is in German and the sticker in the door clearly mentions "Made in German...

I had that exact same thing. Glued it and it is still holding.
But as I now see this part is so cheap, I will replace it as well.
Thanks.
