Hello Jason, +1 on Brucey's comments. The wheel size will not affect your fuel economy as much as the tire size will. Wheel size affects your ride (driving comfort) as larger wheels will force you to use smaller profile (Aspect Ratio will be lower) tires. The smaller profile of the tires will reduce...

I'll sell you a complete kit for $1000 delivered to your door in SoCal. $1800 plus tax and shipping seems a bit high. Then they want $800 to install it! For $2600++ I would just buy a 5 speed car and go from there.

Typically different transmission bell housings. The 87 trans will have the 2 holes in the bellhousing for the flywheel position sensors. The 88 transmission might have the holes in place but they are usually factory cast closed as the 88 did not use flywheel sensors. If the trans does not have the h...

Post a pic of the pump/filter area. My early car had the two pump system so I'm not too sure about yours. Wait for Brucey, Bert or Bobbo to chime in with their wisdom of the e12 chassis. Filters should be placed after pumps to prevent the pump from cavitating. Much easier to push through a clogged f...

Sorry for the problems Scott. My suggestion is to always ask a friend/fellow BC member questions prior to any transaction you are not sure about. There may have been a BC member looking for those wheels and you could have made more than the $30 per. Lesson learned and thanks for the heads up. I hate...

The key cylinder is not open on the other end to push out the broken part. The ignition switch is also mated to the end of key cylinder. You would basically have to remove the key cylinder and disassemble it to remove the broken parts. IIRC there is a small hole where you can insert a pin to release...

Bobby, Are the top hats at the ends keeping the cv joint from mating up with the flange? I have seen different size flanges and top hats before. Are both ends able to slide in and out on the shaft? The shaft also has to have some play (in and out) when the car is sitting down on the suspension and t...

88/89 are unique with the "World Bumpers" The end pieces are molded plastic painted the cars color. The filler piece above the bumper is also painted plastic. The airdam is also different. Some have done the conversion to the 88/89 bumpers and it does look better imo. The 88/89 bumpers do ...

Master Cylinder

I would suspect the MC as well. Unfortunately you may have inadvertently caused the MC to fail. Pump bleeding brakes puts the MC plunger in an area where it did not regularly penetrate previously. The bore of the MC may not be as smooth in that area as the regular area of travel. That basically dama...

Way Off Topic for the Poor Scooter

As with anything that is said in a derogatory manner, the person commenting is usually trying to improve their status by putting others in a negative light. It is true many Asians can't drive very well because many are just now learning how to actually drive. It's one thing to operate a motor vehicl...

Those are FloFit. Very nice condition. They were made to compete with Recaro (actually Recaro copies) but more rare because they didn't make too many of them. They'll work well in a shark but you'll have to make some simple adapters to fit them in your car. Good score if you bought them.

Since the car is a weekend fun driver, you should tackle some of those easy repairs. The fan switch is a little more complicated for some but the other items are simple easy fixes. You can also save a ton of money by hitting the scrap yards in your area. Most of the parts you need cross with many ot...
