OK- I pulled mine out the shed and put them on the 6er. I think they originally were meant for a volvo or something.
they fit- kind of... the foot is OK but the clamp could be modified a little to fit better.
They are Thule model 1050.
hope this helps
cheers

-I've never seen the power outputs compared back to back on a dyno, but the quoted peak figures are probably rather misleading. The usual effect of lowering the compression ratio is to reduce the bottom end torque. The exact same effect is usually obtained by fitting a slightly hotter cam profile, t...

-does it need it? You can adjust play out of them and this usually works OK unless they are very worn indeed. If it is leaking a cheap seal replacement might be all that is required. -sorry don't know of a recon. source, but there are plently of specialist BMW parts suppliers who are worth a ring. c...

I would say that you would get a suction through the crankcase ventilation system with any system MAF or otherwise, because a) You still have an air filter which will depress the static pressure in the intake. b) Bernoulli's law means the intake air rushing past the crankcase vent hose stub will hav...
I think Thule used to do a kit that fitted a wide range of cars with roof gutters. From the Mid '80s on SAABs used a hidden system with their 9000 model so these are no good to you. The 900 still had gutters at this point though. These roof bars are presently appearing at a car boot sale near you fo...

I don't know about definitive, but you can add; -bumpers (of course, but this also includes the panel just above the rear bumper which is different) - brakes (although the last chrome bumper cars like mine have the later brakes). - revised motronic system (different crank sensor arrangement, ECU etc...

Making special tools.
Quite often it is necessary to torque up inaccessible fasteners, e.g. on suspension parts. Overtightening these parts can damage them, but a regular socket and torque wrench won't fit. So how to set the correct torque? Professional mechanics have sets of 'crow's foot' wrenches and the like for this ...

I agree the belt is the #1 suspect. However there is another possibility; the fluid reservoir filter. This sits in the bottom of the PAS/brake booster fluid reservoir. If it should become clogged, as is common with age, then the pump will be merrily trying to suck fluid through it. This will cause c...

-some early motronic (82-87) cars have two fuel pumps, don't know about the L-jet cars. -parts costs sound a bit steep but would be what you would expect for BMW parts. Since pretty much the same parts will be used on lots of other non BMW cars (eg. volvos) then there may be other sources that are c...

6ers are a bit prone to this, but there are only a few reasons for it to occur; 1) Your wheels/tyres are not round enough. Jack up the front wheels and turn them slowly; check for truth. Possibilities include bad tyre, badly seated tyre, damaged wheel. 2) Your wheels are not well balanced enough. Tr...

Re: Very Good Point!
I will check with the mechanic, but I see no indication of the filter having been cleaned or changed. Thanks for the post. I will follow-up when I find the fault. -If you haven't seen the filter before it is usually a very fine metal screen inside a housing. With care, they can be cleaned and re-us...
