Welcome,
There are quite a number of us in the Northeast. Just avoid the salt to keep your blood pressure (and repair bills for bodywork) down.

Hi, Take a look at Shogun's post on bimmerforums.com in the E32 section where he "moves" the gap so that it is under the door sill trim and then filled with some gasket material. It may or may not work on the E24 based on how squished the old door gasket might be. FWIW....Nothing to lose -...

Before you did the work, how on earth did you stop the car? It must have sounded like an old rail car that uses metal on metal brakes.

Small suggestion - change the brake bleeder screws all around....

I looked at two sites: one in the UK www.siliconhoses.com and one in the US www.siliconehoses.com and neither has a listing for E24 hoses.

Upgrading my A/C from R-12 to R-134a

My existing A/C compressor is shot (leaks oil all over) so that needs to be replaced. But if I go to R134a, I understand I need new hoses (barrier hoses?). But how do I spec them if my starting point is realoem? And who makes a good compressor (reman or brand new?) Vin is 6997510 and its a 1984 633 ...

This weekend the Garage Queen (GQ to you'all) got a new water pump, new cap, new rotor, a new coil to distributor wire. Next up is the remainder of the ignition wires, engine detailing and then shocks, struts, trans filter (it's an auto) Changed the directional relay but instead of a non-blink on ea...

Today I tackled the water pump. It's in and I've also replaced cap & rotor, air filter. Tomorrow, ignition wires and test how good is the new pump. Next week - Oil change, new wipers. Then the state inspection. Thinking about a trans fluid change too. Got the filter...... --Ken PS I took some ga...

Calibrating my torque wrenches

I've got a collection of torque wrenches: bending beam (Old Sears Craftsman), spring style with a rotating handle that moves in and out and has a set of hash marks on the tube (Harbor Freight Cheapies) Does anyone have a suggestion for calibrating them other than buying a $$$ digital snap-on wrench?...

Two tips

I've had it with burning myself with my drop light so I changed the bulb with a 60 watt equivalent LED. No more burned hands or faces! I'm in the middle of a water pump change and so after I razored off any residue and used a brass bristle brush to clean out the machine marks on the mating surface, ...
