Re: I just finished rebuilding my A/C Compressor on my m6

I'm just about to 'deal' with my compressor - it's in good external condition - maybe a replacement (though the car has only done 52k miles). Two sections of pipe and the adjoining dryer were missing when I got the car - could have been like that for a while - consequently I'm really concerned about...

Looks pretty tidy, interior is very nice. Sounds like you know quite a bit about these already - look forward to seeing updates!

Ressurecting the Air Conditioning

I'd like to get the air conditioning working on my 85 M6 and have started down what could be a long and expensive road. So far I have taken the whole system apart and have replacements for the dryer, pressure switch, flexible hose pipe sections to R134a, all pipe seals (also R134a) and expansion val...

Re: Air Con layout

Thank you, it is quite useful - I have been looking at the diagram but it doesn't show exactly where the dryer (sorry not condenser) is fixed.

Re: Air Con layout

Any info gratefully received. I've trawled the internet but can't find any images showing where the condenser fits - behind the water bottle?

Air Con layout

There are some parts missing from my air con - the condenser and some pipe sections etc. I can't figure out where the condenser fixes - there is a threaded bolt underneath but no corresponding bracket. Does anyone have a photo of the area where the water bottle lives (as below) showing where stuff g...

Thanks for finding that Soperman - enjoyed it.

Spoiler alert - don't read the following if you've not watched it.

As I told my wife (who tried to ignore me talking to her about cars) at the beginning, they'll get caught out by the sensors!

FOR SALE 1982 Series 2 635 CSi Dogleg UK

Having unexpected acquired an M6 I now have two e24's and so the one I have just restored to keep I now want to sell. If you've following my write up you will get an idea of the care, work and money which has gone into this car - money wise it's cost me around £17k - so I'm certainly not doing well ...

Re: Gauge Cluster Finish

Just been delving into my brinicle this evening... The finish on yours looks quite different from both of mine (82 and 85) - quite course and stippled - but it does look original. I have found that the glue is water based and dissolves quite easily.

Re: Losing Brake Pedal When Engine Running

My cars going in for it's MOT tomorrow after many years off the road. I have replaced every brake component apart from the MC. When I looked at the last MOT in detail last week I noticed that it had failed on 'excessive brake pedal travel' - mysteriously it passed the next day... The brakes seem to ...

Re: Poor old '81 635... can we rebuild her???

Glad to hear that you're not put off from repairing the car - I've restored much worse (not a 6). I'm not that familiar with the brake servos - I always struggled to stop the Girling ones from leaking after rebuilding them - but maybe these are better.

Sorry to see so much corrosion - could you get some used sections from one of the breakers on eBay? Headlights are nice - same as mine, much cheaper than the later ones.

Re: 1982 CSi Resto

One or two minor things left to do now but hopefully by this time next week it will be officially OTR again. It's been a lot of work, a lot of time and a lot of money but I'm pleased with the result. I wanted to put it back to as it left the factory spec and this is it - very 1970s! I feel fairly fa...

Re: 1982 CSi Resto

Fitting the sunroof headlining panel was a brain teaser but I eventually worked it out. The sequence is: 1. Take sunroof out. 2. Insert sunroof lining panel from above. 3. Rivet guide bracket to lining panel. 4. Insert lining panel into side guide slots. 5. Slide lining panel back. 6. Refit sunroof ...

Re: 1982 CSi Resto

Nice day today. Decided I couldn't wait for the pros to do my headlining so I went for it myself. I had copied the old one and been careful to leave lots of extra. I bought 60 mini bulldog clips and pinned the headlining in place and it looked good. I then used impact adhesive to glue the front edge...

Looks good - £250 isn't bad at all. Any photos of the underside of your car etc?
