Here is a photo I took of David's car back in the day (1994 I think) with the small mobile aerial just poking out of the top rear screen and the M6 badges. Both these are visible in the advert. Note his original reg no. later changed to 606 DRC.

Ron has been told by the seller that the car in the advert is #483.
Like you, I do not believe that they are the same car, hence my confusion.

It is listed in the M635csi Registry http://www.bmwmregistry.com/detail.php?id=852 The Reg number I think is showing as F848 VDF which according to DVLA has not been on the road since 2008? But the CC for this car is showing wrong ...

Aha, in that case C781 MDP was exported to the Gold Coast Australia in 2005. It was indeed Diamond Black metallic, with 0186 interior (cloth but unsure what colour that is) according to the build sheet. The last photos I have show it sporting a Recaro leather interior and worryingly a tow bar.
