M88/3 Throttle bodies rebuild

One of the first jobs I needed to tackle on this spare engine was to clean up and rebuild the throttle bodies. Having searched the web for articles on how to approach this, I came across these links: http://6-city.blogspot.co.uk/2013_01_01_archive.html http://6-city.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/adjusting-...

M635csi Engine swap

The Background I have owned my RHD M635 for the past 21 years and, although rarely used in the last 10-15 years (only to shows normally), it is fast approaching the 100K miles mark so it is time to refresh the timing chain tensioners, something I want to tackle myself. Around 12 years ago I investe...

Thanks for your kind words, Bayerische. Here are a couple of other shots of #004. The car came off the line 12th Oct 1984. I understand that the car was owned by the late Stuart White. Stuart's father offered the car to the local motor club in Darlington and that is how the current owner (Phil) boug...

Hi Gareth Good luck with your project. I really hope you can get this fixed relatively easy. I really appreciate your detailed descriptions/photos and will follow your thread with interest. I am soon to lift my engine to do the timing chain etc. and so will use your thread as a guide. I have another...

M635 MC

Hi Chris I got my MC a few months back from Eurocarparts but they listed the wrong part for my M635 in their catalogue. Then I found the right one listed under E28 535i as explained in the following post: http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19303&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&a...

Hi Richard
I have some that I have just measured and, as near as I can tell, they come in at 31mm.

I understand that Volvo shims fit but here is some info that might be useful

This was on UK Ebay a month or two ago. Home made, but might help someone in designing something similar. It sat over the handbrake.

Munich Legends Day

Thanks John for organising this for us, a great day out. Many thanks to our hosts at Munich Legends, the hots dogs and coffee were most welcome. A big thank you to Mick on the ramps who pointed out all the work I need to do on my car to make sure it outlasts me. This should keep me busy for a year o...

Hi John Many thanks for organising the visit to RAF Hendon, very enjoyable. Great to meet the BigCoupe group. Thanks to Ben & Bruce for making sure no other bits fell off my car on the way there (offside bumper moulding is on the side of a road somewhere in the Midlands! :D ). Couple more photos...

Hi Brucey Unfortunately I spent last weekend changing front springs (and rear dampers) on my wife's MkVI Fiesta as both had snapped. I put this down to the many speed humps we have locally. I did notice a few bits of broken springs around some of these humps, so we are not alone. However, when I did...

Hi Calmbalzer
My spare M635 gearbox measures 565mm from the bellhousing to the end of the output shaft as far as I can tell (difficult to measure exactly). It measures 535mm from the bellhousing to the output shaft side of the output flange.
Hope this helps.

Ron very kindly sent me a sample of his Dekor 5 and the wider stripe is darker (and greener) than mine so this tells me I do not have Dekor 1 stripes either, as Dekor 1 appears darker than Dekor 5 on the colour chart. Ron, you may have saved me making an expensive mistake, so I owe you :D The questi...

Hi Ron I really appreciate you taking the time to unroll and measure your stripes and hope it hasn't caused you too much work. This makes the ?100 outlay for the Dekor 1 stripes a little more palatable in that I will be able to do 2 wings if necessary and still have enough left to do the whole car w...

Hi Ubercoupe Thanks for your input. At this time I am only intending to match the stripes I already have, on a resprayed wing. My car is Polaris Silver which is lighter than the Lachs Silver I believe, so I think the Dekor 5 silver would be too light and blend into the body in much the same way the ...

Hi Ron I notice on EBAY that the genuine BMW pinstripes for an E36 are marked as being supplied in 11 meter rolls? Is your Dekor 5 roll marked with a length please? The reason I ask is that if I am able to buy a Dekor 1 roll and it is 11m then it would be enough to do the wing now and the whole car ...

Hi Ron Yes, I just found out how expensive they are! Typically the one I need is Dekor 1 (the most expensive at around ?100) I only need some for the offside wing which is getting resprayed next month. Thanks for the offer of the Dekor 5, I will bear it in mind as at least that would give me the bla...
