Booked a slot on the ramp.. 99% sure should be able to make it and will let Laura know next week.
Be good to get her up and looked over and of course meet up with people.

Re: Binding brakes/faulty master cylinder; mystery solved???
before you start, discharge the 'bomb' by applying the brakes repeatedly until the pedal goes firm and the PAS reservoir level is static. Then remove the brake pads from each caliper, and replace them with worn backings or timber strips the thickness of backings. Then pump the brake pedal until the...

Re: Binding brakes/faulty master cylinder; mystery solved???
After reading this thread and musing for a few weeks its been on the mind to swap out brake MC on mine. Went for a drive yesterday, front right caliper is running hot and i get a judder once all is warmed so pretty sure the MC is at fault.. also the front right caliper is new as of 2008 so doubt its...

Got her out on the road yesterday. Wasnt sure if the difference would be worth the £1,050 they cost all in but wow.. car feels totally alive. Touch softer if anything on the straight but corners are so precise and best described as 'safe'. The TRX are many years old, despite still having 4mm tread l...

Sun has come out, torn... dont know if to get the car out or get the microlight out and do a little fly. Choices are not always a bad thing. Might try and do both!

Dropped the rims off at tyre fitters.. promised the guy a tenner if he looked after them and didnt scratch :D Then jacked the old girl up, got some of the old underseal off where damaged and cleaned and epoxy 121 mastic'd.. then went back to pick up the tyres at 1630. All fitted with Michelin PS4, i...

Thanks Baders...
Hope the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 are good... have always got PS2 on my cars previously but they seem to be impossible to get for a reasonable amount of £ these days. Couldn't find for less than £130 each.

Re: Opinions please rc090... to change middle or not?
You are right about 225/45's being nearest the TRX size, my apologies. I have run 235/45 on 17x8's for years with no rubbing issues; you get a higher sidewall for a little more comfort and a wider tyre to protect against kerbing but we all have different criterea for tire size and choice. Good luck...

Re: Opinions please rc090... to change middle or not?
I've always put 235/45 on 8x17's; slightly higher sidewall for a little more comfort and closer to the OEM 415 TRX rolling radius IIRC. Pondered this but was concerned i might rub on the front suspension? Also ran the numbers and it seemed that overall 225/45/17 would be the nearest to the TRX comi...

Re: Opinions please rc090... to change middle or not?
thanks gentlemen, decision is made - run them for a bit and see. Few errands to do this morning, then the plan is to: 1) sit in front of wood burning stove with some cloths / metal polish / glass(s) of red for the afternoon 2) breaks from polishing will consist of researching best tyre size to fit. ...

You know what they say about opinions right? ;) Anyway i would like yours, honest and straight to the point. I picked up a set of RC090 17" et20 8j yesterday from a nice young lad... they have 215x40x17 on 2 of them and 195x40x17 on the others. Tyres look new, shame he put thin ones on 2 of the...

Re: Oil Leak from rear of engine.. advice
Luckily this fix must go down as one of the cheapest in history, under a tenner for the parts. If i added the labour in at £65 an hour though, then it would be another story :) Timing chain is good on my baby. However brakes are binding with front right running the hottest / pulling so i do believe ...

WTB: Alloys for M635, located in UK
*** found a set.. no longer need any ***
Looking for some alloys... preference:
16" (maybe 17")
BBS Style 5, RC (or RS)
ET20
Black centres would be nice, or silver.. or what have you?

Re: Oil Leak from rear of engine.. advice
Quick update, by some miracle i seem to have fixed it! Have taken the old girl out a couple of times in last month... seems dry... took her for MOT yesterday and she passed with no advisories whereas for last 2 years they have taken exception to the oil pool on the floor under their inspection ramp ...
