So I am looking at the wiring diagram for the heated seats, and I do not see any relays in the system.. Am I to understand correctly that both heating elements for both seats run thru fuse 16 (15amp)? And all power runs thru the switches? 180 watts doesn't seem like a lot of heat.... A little further investigation..... It seems that there is no control over the fan speed in "variable mode" but you can actually hear the micro switch make on "full " and the fan speed changes slightly.... Seems like something Is certainly messed up inside.... Not the usual failu...

It does if you run Motronic 1.3 , what is a -179 ECM what is the late 88 and 89 e24's only. Your '85 will not have those, so, no stomp test. And no retrofit possible I believe unless you swap engines and harness... So are you saying that your e31 has 2 ECM's, each one running a bank on 6 cylinders ?...
