He has replied to my request for more pics with a promise to post some in the ad but not there yet. The car is clearly a late model vehicle, if he continues to insist it is early model and will not divulge the VIN then alarm bells are ringing loud as a "authorised" body shop has "veri...

I've asked nicely for an under bonnet pic, see how that goes. the seller has really good feedback and normally sells phones and accessories. Check his other car listed.

Dave,

What standalone are you using? I want to install a standalone on my M88 but the biggest issue is base program that takes so much time to get right. Thinking about haltech.

I had the Miller MAF and WAR chip on my M6 and the difference in throttle response and smoothness was terrific. I have since gone to a standalone fully sequential system and would be happy to sell the MAF and chip if anyone is interested, only suits S38 not M88.

Please be careful that the uneven misfire you speak of is not being caused by a lean afr. If you have adjusted the clocking of the spring in the afm to provide more resistance then you will need more air flow for a given angular deflection of the door and this can cause lean afr.

These holes are for the clutch master cylinder inlet and outlet. the part number for the grommet for this is 21521156082 but I cannot find the part number for the blanks that would be fitted in an automatic car. If you measure the hole both ways and average it out then buy a round grommet it will pr...

The fuel consumption gauge flicks momentarily this is driven by the ecu current fuel rate output. This could indicate that the ecu is turning off the injector pulse then back on again, the idle valve then opens up to get the revs back up and takes a second or two to stabilise again.

Hi Richard The BMW spec calls for a GL4 gearbox oil. A lot of the locally available oils are GL5 spec and are not suitable. OK so we are almost certain the problem lies within the cluster, I have found a good picture of the main pcb so if I can trace the relevant circuits are you able to inspect the tracks and the pins and connectors between the boards with a multimeter using the method described in the link I posted? The fuel gauge began working a few minutes after running the car, then the tach became intermittent and the service indicator lights would flicker (not the colore...

Let's just do some simple tests instead of guessing, then we can narrow down whether the problem is in the car or the cluster.

Put the sunroof into the closed position. There are 3 screws holding the motor/gearbox assembly on, remove these so you operate the motor. As you push the open and closed buttons the motor will run for a while then stop itself as the limits are in the gearbox assembly. A few goes and you will soon w...

You are correct the reservoir level should be below the screen unless you pump the brake pedal about 10 times, suggest checking the "bomb". Start the engine then stop the engine and apply the brakes, as you release the brake pedal you should hear the sound of the hydraulic fluid leaving th...

To be able to fault find this problem we need to be really specific and accurate with the symptoms. We are assuming that there is nothing wrong with the cluster and the repairer has done their job correctly. Looking at the wiring diagram for a 1989 model the following points are observed. 1. the pow...

You did not mention whether you are getting a spark when cranking? Pin 4 reads 0v/start position. - this may not be an issue as the ecu tries to drive the idle valve one way Main relay has 12v on 87 and 87a - This is normal Injectors show 12v on both leads on start and after, in ign position - this ...

If a dealer buys parts and on sells them here then he has to charge his margin plus GST. If you buy them direct you escape these costs but get caught for the freight charge. Which method is best depends on the value of the items and the direct shipping costs. For small things like the o rings the de...

I discovered an agent for ecs in Sydney ask ecs if there is one over your way. The Sydney agent can order parts and send them to you, for small parts like this it will save you on the shipping cost.
