Re: What are these connectors for
The black plug with green wire will be an ignition switch start/run feed. This goes to numerous things like fuse box (for power distribution), OBC, charging system indicator, ABS system, and power windows. If everything mentioned is working on the car I wouldn't be too worried about the plugs.

Re: What are these connectors for
The white connector will be lighting of some kind. Can't quite make out the other wire on the white connector. If it is grey red then that white plug is lights. Things like all the dash lights, cigar lighter light, visor light, light switch lights, fog light switch lights, hazard switch lights, OBC ...

Re: Starting issue - wiring??????
That voltage seems low to me and should be around 12v in start position. There could be bad or intermittent contacts on the ignition switch.bigboystoy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 6:17 am Start Input on pin 4 - measured 0.07V with key in ON position. 9.66V with key in start position cranking engine.

Re: Idling/stalling issue - '89 635csi
This is the applicable paragraph from the Bosch Motronic Guide by Hi Performance Store; If you have a 528e with Motronic 1.1 or a 535i you are looking for a slightly different set of values. With a coolant temperature of 12-16F (-9C to -11C) resistance between the two terminals should be 8200-10500 ...

Re: Stranger starting issue once warmed up, please help?
When it wont start, does it fire a few cylinders and then die, or does it not start at all? Does giving a little throttle help? How does it run otherwise? and how is the idle? It could be the idle control valve staying open, or possibly another vacuum leak. Another phenomenon is a heat soak where t...

Re: Starting issue - wiring??????
Sounds like you're on the right track. I would conduct some point to point continuity testing of all of the ECU wiring to the plug, whilst at the same time moving it to find any faults.. I'm afraid you or someone is going to have to get under that dash and pull the Motronic plug. Other things to che...

Re: Ex LOCUTUS the fun and pain begin
Yesterday and today I got stuck into removing the A/C evaporator assembly for refurbishment. Fairly easy job which is well documented elsewhere. The evap was a little crusty but only minor surface rust in a couple of places. Decided to run with it instead of trying to find a new replacement. Cleaned...

Re: Ex LOCUTUS the fun and pain begin
So today I got the hood back on the car with renewed washer hoses etc. I decided to stick with the main tank plus intensive tank. My lack of plumbing knowledge showed however because I forgot to put a one way valve in the intensive line  When the main bottle washer was operated, the fluid drib...

Re: Temperature gauge malfunction
There have been cases where old batteries have split and damaged the circuit boards so why not replace if you are in there ? I re-engineered mine by installing a battery holder to enable ease of replacement in the future. The service interval processor memory power supply is "hot at all times&q...

Song it's a bit hard to see the pictures aggregated like that, to get enough detail. The relay switches something, have you traced out the relay contact circuits to see what they switch ? Can you trace it all out and draw an electrical diagram ? Relays often have what is called a "flyback diode...

Re: Temperature gauge malfunction
Sorry about the late reply, bit going on here ! :) I see in the diagram that the signal indeed goes through the service indicator, do you know why? I believe the service indicator takes into account an aggregate of engine temperature to calculate service intervals. I assume plug C6 are the pins sold...

Yep. Trace them out and see where they go. I can't think of any "sensor" that would need to go between MAF and the computer.

Re: Temperature gauge malfunction
You need to go about this in a systematic fashion. Do you have the appropriate Electrical Troubleshooting Manual from here ? http://wedophones.com/Manuals/BMW/ Do you have a digital multimeter ? One of the pins on the sender is a switch contact (activates the idiot light on dash). The other pin on t...

Re: Non-Essential Emission Sensor?
Song I'm trying to imagine what sort of "sensor" would go in between the MAF and Motronic ? Are you sure its a sensor and not simply a resistor ?
