Re: Junk in da' Trunk

I got a flat on the bridge from Sweden to Denmark on mine while on my way from northern Norway towards italy and France, with the trunk full of luggage. It wasn't fun getting the spare tire out with all the trucks roaring past, creating a lot of wind while I had to empty the trunk to get to my spare...

Re: Rebuilding the SII board in instrument cluster

I just soldered in new batteries, same as the old ones and haven't had any problems since. If they lasted for 20 years, then the new ones will probably last another 20 years as well so I don't see the advantage of an external battery holder as some are fitting. I can live with replacing the batterie...

Re: Nicely driven six

Can anyone explain his feathering of the throttle. It caused him to get a less than stellar start and I would think that the constant off and on off and on throttle can loose some hp and torque because your building up over and over again instead of holding steady throttle to keep hp and torque at ...

Re: 635CSi 0-230km/h on the autobahn

When going in a straight line it's not that bad, it's fast considering it's age. :-) I took it to the Nürburgring as well, out on the track it felt a bit sluggish and too far down on the RPM's when I wanted to overtake. It does about 150km/h in second gear and 240km/h in third, so naturally when you...

635CSi 0-230km/h on the autobahn

Just wanted to see what the old lady could do on the Autobahn this summer :-) https://youtu.be/-BdOsK7TDQE Shot at a time where there was close to no cars on the road. I got 245km/h out of it according to the speedometer, or approximately 235km/h on the GPS. But it would max out at about 230km/h mos...

Re: Hello from Sweden, 635csia -88

Hi and welcome to the community! :P It's nice to see more Scandinavians here. Looks like a nice buy, the little gremlins shouldn't be much of an hassle to repair. With cars as old as this there will always be some sort of gremlins, that's why they call it a hobby. I can't remember seeing that...

Re: What color radiator fan???

I have had several water pumps fail on me, they all started to leak excessively long before being able to contact the hose, so I wouldn't worry about it. When the water pump goes bad you'll have to change it anyway, they quickly become worse once they start failing. But what I HAVE experienced are t...

Re: lower radiator hose

I know the L-jetronic and Motronic versions had different lower radiator hoses. This is because of the size of the distributor it self, the L-jetronic one is faced upwards while the Motronic one is faced forward and are a bit bigger down low. With the distributor out of the way on the L-jetronic, th...

Nice one! :P

I have been playing with the thought of using a set of rear E24 seats as furniture myself. They look good and are good to sit in, as long as you have the leg room that is.. But I never think I'm actually going to do it.

Speaking of child seats.. There was in fact an oem solution to this once, a child seat special made from the factory to fit in the back of the E24 with factory harness etc. Similar shaped as the rear bucket seats and seems to fit right into them, according to the pictures in the parts catalog. The o...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Dismantled the passenger front seat. I'm in the process of coloring the whole interior, or should I say everything made out of leather. I took the seats and doorpanels out of the car in october when I stored the car for the winter. Up until now I have colored the door panels and rear seats, what's r...

Do you happen to have the sizes or part numbers of the mufflers you used? I'm sorry, I don't remember. Anyway, I think they was too loud so I don't recommend using them. Hi, I'm new here and really enjoy your thread :) Do you happen to have more pics of how you solved the the pressure piping to and...

Not really my taste with all that bling, but damn that is some nice work making those covers! I have polished aluminium myself, not from as rough as a cast inlet manifold but damaged edges on some 18" rims back in the day. Started out with rough sandpaper on a machine and sanded it smooth, went...

My D-light have also burnt out, but I actually prefer it that way. I think it's comfortable in the dark without it lighting me in the face, the other lights still work so I know when it's in any other position than drive. When it's dark I know it's in drive, and so on.. Those lights are much brighte...

If my calculations are right these pistons will give me a CR of 8.65:1, so maybe they aren't as wrong as I thought in the first place. According to this calculator: http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=51939 These pistons are made to give a CR of 8.0:1 in an M30B35, and if you reduce cylinder head c...

I finally got the pistons yesterday, but they have sent me the wrong one's.. I ordered pistons with 8.5:1 compression ratio and recieved some with. 8.0:1.. And a LOT of PPM stickers. But I guess I'll just have to live with it, I don't want to wait any longer now. Previous pistons I had in the engine...
