Some E34's had one

Realoem shows PN 11421713345, filter with cooler connection. One of the first 5ers I looked at had it. The lines were shot which made me shy away from buying it.

that monster?

I remember putting that in and thinking "Geez, why did I use galvanized steel." I'm not 100% on what's behind the console but if you cut the back out of it, you can use standard size VDO's. I had the shallow Cyberdyne units and they barely fit on the bottom. If it works for you, awsome. Al...

I'll be making them next year

Myself and a coworker have built a molding machine to make gauge pods for a pillars, dash and ashtray drop ins. The prototype process will be started after the new year. I'll throw some pics up once we get going.

Yes and No

I had a MAF conversion but it was a Split Second unit. The difference was very noticeable.

AFM's M30b35 vsM30B34

I do not think there is any difference between the two. I had at least two or three different 027 AFM's on my old E34, one actually came from my 85 E24. I never had any running issues. Ran the BMW part number through Realoem, it listed 3.4 as well as 3.5 liter motor cars within the search results.

I had a similar problem, battery light bulb went out in the dash. If it's fried, the alternator wont charge the battery.

Spin-on Filter Adapter Revisited

After making and selling the other types of adapters, I decided to throw together a direct spin-on filter adapter. I wanted to free up the top bolt hole for a sender or a feed line. I now see that there is a third spot on the mount that can be made to accept fittings . I've circled it in the pic. Wh...

Not terribly difficult

A little more strenuous than an oil change. If the level sensor does not solve it, it may be your pump. That can be a bitch.

I'll double what Mr. Wright is saying. I had a friend with am E34 that had the same issue, it turned out to be the ground cable. On my E30, it was the main relay. As said above, those are the first two places to look. To me, it sounds like a battery cable. I recently swapped my ground out on my 635 ...

My system was mandrel bent.

I did have a problem with shipping when Stebro only send the center section. I called and threatened, they shipped. I got my e34 system in early 2007 . I think they had an Austrian manufacturer at the time. Mandrel bends at the time. Once I get the workload down, I might entertain the idea of making...

$250 is decent for a shop around the DC area. Depending on how long the CAT has been on the car, it can be a headache. 120 an hour is steeper than usual. There's a decent place in Alexandria that charges $80. Huntington car care, alot of the people in my office take their cars there, never a problem.

You should look into a MAF conversion. Miller performance sells a plug and play kit. I had a Split Second ARC2-A unit on both of my M30's and loved it.

Re: broken studs

Jay, Klaus is totally right. I use to work as a machinest and the best way is to center punch and use a small drill bit and then use a slightly smaller than the tap size drill and make sure it is a left hand drill bit, because the stud will most likely back out. Good luck, be patient w/this James R...

M8 studs so you drill through and attempt to use a bolt extractor. It shouldn't take a good machine shop more than 45 minutes to get three of them out. I pulled two out with a regular hand drill, an assortment of drill bits and a set of bolt extractors or "easy outs". Its not horribly hard...

Supercharger

While I was in Germany, I came across a 535i which had a Eaton M90 unit in place of the AC compressor. I've seen a cleaner setup than the one Raffi posted and pulled dimensions off of the bracket that was made, still looking for time to pop one out of the CNC mill but real work keeps getting in the ...

I would think a good wheel repair shop could tell you "yes" or "no" but you could always find a replacement barrel up for sale. I forget where I saw them but I know there's a couple of places that sell just BBS barrels.

Threw one together at work...

Buell,

If you need one, let me know. I think I made mine a little too long bu I'll find out the right length when I put it on tomorrow. I have a good amount of scrap 4 gauge wire sittin around from a tank project, wouldn't take me 5 minutes to put one together for you.
